Porta Nuova reconnects the three projects, Garibaldi, Varesine and Isola, covering an overall surface of more than 290,000 square metres.
The renovation and improvement of the urban texture is a natural development for the existing neighbourhoods.
A pedestrian system was studied to involve green areas, piazzas, bridges, as well as a large park that seamlessly connects the different neighbourhoods efficiently and securely.

I know the Gilli tower is not planned to be built, but what about the curved looking structure between Gilli and the cube - is that being built?

As Genius Loci already told. Those one were just the remains of the so called "varesine" train station which operated in the first half of the 20th century (after WW2 the station was moved to the present "stazione Garibaldi" nearby)

They have already been removed in the excavation process for the residential buildings. The area is still called "varesine" in honour of the train station.
