The Budapest Cog-wheel Railway is a rack railway running in Budapest, Hungary.


History
Since 1868 a horse tramway ran on schedule from the Lánchíd to Zugliget set in operation by the Budai Közúti Vaspálya Társaság (~ Public Railway Society of Buda). Nikolaus Riggenbach (the designer of the first European cog-wheel train line of Vitznau-Rig opened in 1871) with a colleague of his as the representatives of the Internationale Gesellschaft für Bergbahnen applied for the construction of the cog-wheel train line leading to Svábhegy. The building permit was issued on July 3, 1873, and construction of the line began immediately, thus enabling the service to start up in the following year. The first introductory vehicle ran from 4 p.m. on June 24, 1874, and regular traffic began on the following day. The whole line was built according to Riggenbach's cog-wheel system. The normal-gauge single track railway was 2883 m (1.56 miles) long all the way uphill with a the difference in height of 264 m. The terminal point was built at the present Városmajor.

Reconstruction
They plan to reconstruct the whole line and extend it to Moszkva tér and Normafa. They also will get new trains.
This all would cost around 8 milliárd HUF. Hopefully it will be done in 2010-2011.

Extensions
The Urban and Suburban Transit Association (VEKE) is advocating that the line be extended in both directions (Normafa and Moszkva tér).
This would be desirable because it would make it easier to reach both centers of the local traffic routes (including an underground line): the Moszkva tér and in the other direction the popular and beloved Normafa, where many local people and tourists spend their spare time.

They plan to extend it to Moszkva tér. I really hope when this project starts finally they will erase Moszkva tér and rebuild, reconstruct that one too. Also they promise it in every voting campaign. I really like this project and after all other project the 8 milliárd HUF is not that much. Lets hope the best for it

I made this topic ages ago. I think the extension will be done as soon popkorni and his crew will lead the city. I mean demszkáá will not even go for the major position. I hope so at least

Kisiklott a fogaskerekű
Kisiklott a fogaskerekű vasárnap délután fél 3-kor, személyi sérülés nem történt - mondta a BKV fődiszpécsere.



Jelenleg vizsgálják, hogy miért siklott ki a jármű - tette hozzá a fődiszpécser. Az Erdei iskola és a Gyöngyvirág út közötti szakaszon a 21-es, a 21A és a 212-es buszok szállítják az utasokat.

Engem érdekelne, hogy lesz e hosszabbítás, felújítás amit már évtizedek óta hallani.
A Széll Kálmán térre nem fogják behozni a vonalat? Az egész most át lesz építve és a terveken nem szerepel semmi ezzel kapcsoaltos.
Ti hogyan oldanátok meg?

Ha nagyon bilibe lógatom a kezem:

• Villamos jellegű üzem
• TramTrain jellegű üzem

A inkább villamos akkor Erzsébet kilátó!/Normafa-Moszkva tér-valamelyik villamosvonallal fonódva Pestre/Dél-Budára vagy a Déli puhoz.
Ha inkább TramTrain szerű jármű, akkor az útvonal annyiban módosul, hogy a Délibe vinném, ahol fel tudna menni a nagyvasútra, aztán onnan Budaörs/Érd felé ahol leágazna az adott városba....

szerintem totál felesleges kivinni a fogast Érdre...

Attól, hogy szerves része lesz a villamoshálózatnak, még megmarad speciális üzemnek a fogaskerekű. Ha bejárna a Moszkv.. Széll Kálmánra, az már sokat javítana a helyzeten, a hegyen pedig meghosszabbítható a Normafáig, ahogy az a korábbi terveken szerepel. Ez persze sok problémát felvet. Alacsonypadlós fogaskerekű vasúti jármű úgy tudom nem létezik, a jelenlegi magasperonos megoldás viszont nem kompatibilis a villamoshálózattal. A villamoshálózaton is alkalmas közlekedéshez valami egészen speciális járművekre lenne szükség (pl. alacsonypadlós, befüggesztett rész a hajtással rendelkező és ezért magaspadlós kocsirészek között), a fogas jelenlegi szakaszán pedig teljesen át kéne alakítani a megállókat (magasperon elbontása), ami igazából a teljes vonalfelújítás során megoldható.

Oké , csak egy opció a "TramRackTrain"

Olyan fogast épít a Stadler, mint egyetlen fogaskerekűt gyártó cég amilyet szeretnék. Szóval van ap fogas, de valóban át kell építeni a jelenlegi peronokat.

Nem járt a fogaskerekű
Az 56-os pályaszámú motorkocsi hibásodott meg.
Kedden reggel 8.00 és 9.40 óra között nem közlekedett az 50-es villamos, azaz a fogaskerekű Svábhegy és Széchenyi-hegy között, az 56-os pályaszámú motorkocsi meghibásodása miatt.

A hegymenetben Széchenyi-hegyre érkező vonat motorkocsijának hajtásrendszerében akadt probléma: valószínűleg az egyik kardántengely rongálódhatott meg. Az üzemképtelen motorvonat jelenleg is Svábhegy állomáson vesztegel – tudta meg az iho Hajtó Bálinttól.
