Dubai vs New York : which one is the best for a holiday?
I was wondering which city is best to go to just for vacation, so not to live or anything. I couldn't find any threads about it in this section but well it has 81 pages of threads, so I didn't read through them all. Sorry if something like this already exists.
In 2011 I'll graduate and my parents will give me as a present a trip to a destination I can choose. Well I love skyscrapers (duh...) but what city should I choose? My first intention was to go to Dubai, because I love the city (read my signature), but than I got uncertain about it. It has some less nice things about it. Number 1 is that it's very hot, so we have to go in a vacation not in the summer. So it will be a short trip like 3 to 10 days, because those vacations in my country only last that long (except summer vacation). It's also still under construction and not very dense, it just started and has no history yet. I heard about alot of pollution that you can't even swim in the sea because it's to dirty. It also is in the desert with almost no green. So that are some negative things. Than I thought about New York, of course together with Chicago the mothercity of skyscrapers. It has alot of history and alot of buildings. But not the highest in the world (little -), however it has very nice tourist attractions like ESB, Statue of Liberty and of course the Skyscraper Museum . You can also go to Central Park, or go out of the city for a day, to just see the rest of America (which I've never been too). In Dubai you would only see sand if you go out of the city. And the biggest positive thing is that it isn't as hot as in Dubai, so we can go in the summer vacation, which means it will be longer. Maybe a month! Dubai however also has some positive things: it has alot of very high skyscrapers ( I believe even more supertalls than NY), it's also amazing that they have build all of it in just about a decade. They also have some very nice stuff to visit like Burj Al Arab, Burj Dubai, all the malls, a indoor-ski-center, palm islands. So I'm really doubting and don't know what to choose anymore. Of course everyone has his own opinion so I opened a poll, and please give some arguments for it, and don't give stupid reactions like everybody hates Dubai or New York is the ugliest city in the world, stuff like that is just not true, so give a argumented opinion please. Hopefully this thread and poll will give me alot of ideas and will help make my final decision. And of course it's also usefull to other people who want to visit one of these places.

O lol I just read the forum rules here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=451910 . But I do think this thread discusses city issues, city life and urbanity. So please people keep it polite so the moderators won't close this thread, cuz I really want to hear your opinions.

Sorry, but it is a City vs City thread, and will inherently lead to fighting.
