A very good choice! There was a demand for articulated buses here. Agora is obviously a good choice because it already proved its reliability in Cluj. The mechanics and drivers of RATUC know how to take care of them. The second hand buses brought from Paris were always in a good condition. Therefore, I say it was a good move. Now I hope they will somehow buy several new articulated trolleybuses...If they won't buy more buses from MJT beside the 2 already here (as I heard) they could use the money for new trolleybuses.
P.S. I don't want to be mean, but I like that all our buses have soft chairs unlike in Bucharest where even Mercedes Citaro have only plastic chairs

You guys got articulated Agoras from RATP?
God damn it, I envy you! Nicely done... RATP buses are very well maintained.Normally I get pissed when the local transport company doesn't paint its second-hand vehicles in its own colors, but this time, if I were living in Cluj, I'd love to see the RATP colors, "Roissybus" caption and the Eiffel Tower stay.

I think they'll strip those Eiffel drawings off the bus. About the colors, there are lots of older Renaults from France in Cluj with the same livery. Though I wouldn't mind seeing these new ones painted in white, like the other Agoras from Cluj.

Why all white? It looks like crap (white crap
). On the other hand RATP's colors are great IMO.

Don't know, I guess it's a matter of taste.
![]() I wonder if they'll buy more of those lowfloor Hungarian buses like those two already in use. I remember reading about them having some 8 digital cameras each, plasma screens, GPS and other sci-fi systems (sci-fi for Cluj). ![]()

The mayor said that is not going to buy other MJT buses. He said that the price is now to high for current economical conditions. Probably another auction will be held, the city will try to get better prices. The mayor also said that nuber one priority will be to bring new trolleybuses (only 40 out of 110 are good enough to not be scraped).

Functioneaza panoul electric?

Trolleys are good. We need new ones, and also some trams (I remember hearing the officials say just after they bought those second hand German trams that new trams will be bought soon).
Te referi la panourile care afiseaza numarul autobuzului si ruta? Daca la alea te referi, da, functioneaza.

I think that we'd probably be better off without any trams in Cluj. There are only about three lines anyway and they could be replaced by buses. Maybe in cities with wider streets trams are a good solution, but here I just think that they make the traffic worse. Also, rebuilding the whole track network and buying new, decent trams would be WAY more expensive than buying several buses.

You may be right, but i think that extending the tram network (today we can't even call it a network) cannot be done too soon because of the narrow streets packed with cars. Maybe if there would be A LOT of subterranean parking spaces in the city, building a large tram network would be a good idea. I just hate seeing trams running alongside of cars. Also, streets with access only for trams and pedestrians could be a solution. |
