I like the way how the different ethnics are portraied. It shows a simplicity although there was certainly a lot of work behind each picture. The images are highly artificial but at the same time the artist managed to capture the very moment of naturalness giving it warmth, imtimacy and connectivity to the viewer.

Yea, exactly, and they dont use models as well, used some of those average person in their community, so it does gives you the sense of warmth.

Wow! A great Chinese cultural lesson for everyone from 7F7! How many of you guys knew all 56 ethnic groups? I'm surprised to see that Russians are also an ethnic minority in China.

Absolutely stunning!!! I wish they had paid some more attention to the gastronomy of each group though.

Btw, are the Chinese Jews (Kaifeng Jews, etc) considered as Han people?
Do you have gypsies in China?

The Han of course are pretty multicultural themselves, with 6 different languages and hundreds of dialects, aswell as peoples - ranging from the Hainanese who were isolated for centuries (only 12 people voluntarily arrived on the island in 600 years), to the wandering Hakka, aka as China's gypsies.

Also in the tropical south live the Sea Gypsies (also Han), but who live almost exclusively on water.

It's interesting to see a lot of Muslims and Nomadic tribes from ethnic minority groups.

Greeting everyone from Shenzhen where I am several days now while exploring my business with potential partners. I also had a chance to visit my Ancestral village nearby and was pleasantly amazed by its modernization – neat completely paved alleys, brick houses with modern appliances, internet connection, running water, … I took quite a few pictures and I will post them in another section as soon as I can if somebody here show me how to do it.

Also you have to remember when the first call for registering ethnic groups went out over 130 applied - but only 56 made the cut. Many different groups were lumped together such as the Red Tai, White Dai etc who not only practice different culture, costume and societies but speak different languages, or the Tibetans who are made up of several different groups, the 13 different Taiwanese aboriginal groups, and of course the Han, who include among others the Jewish, Tuvan, Oirat and Ili Turki.
