The tower itself looks okay, but I can't imagine who would want to live there with the views of the train tracks, parking lots...

Location, location, location.
Besides, that view is from only one side, and low in the tower.
From higher up, you would have a view of the lake.

And most of those parking lots will be filled with new towers in the next 4-5 years.

This is a tall tower, so once you get up a few storeys, instead of hanging over the edge of their balconies and looking directly down, most people might look out normally and see either the city skyline, or a big beautiful lake! The L Tower is in a superb location in the heart of downtown.

What a beautiful building! And to think, there were a lot of haters on UT (regarding the cladding). It turned out better than expected.

Yet another great photo. This one is from someMidTowner from UT.

Well UT is full of industry people who spend a lot of their time stroking each other's egos and validating their already rigid ideas about urban planning/architecture. It's not exactly a great place for creative thought/new ideas.

That said, I think L Tower has won most of them over.

If I recall correctly, SSCers were far more down on L Tower's cladding when it first arrived than UTers. I specifically remember the reactions because they were pretty funny. Lots of .gifs were involved.

edit: I found the page here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...456542&page=72

Seems I was the only one who immediately liked the cladding.

The blue looks good on the curved top, but I still think it looks better from a distance than from close.

You realize that people who like something aren't necessarily going to comment on it. I form opinions on everything I see, but weigh in perhaps 5% of the time. I imagine other people do the same.

Yes, that's a given. In fact, it's such a given that I didn't feel it necessary to preface my post by writing "Of all the people who had chosen to comment on this project..." because I assumed that everyone implicitly understood that I wasn't implying that I was the only person on earth who liked the cladding. Apparently not.
