Some towers look to tall there, the Aon Center looks about 290m and the Wellls Fargo looks about 280m. Maybe it's because they are on Bunker Hill.

Walking DTLA, just a few weeks ago, I was struck by the elevation change to Bunker Hill.

Walking up Grand ave. to Bunker Hill can be a task (at least for me it was, lol). Fun fact: On the "Rickshaw" episode of Seinfeld, the scene at 5:26 of this video was filmed on Grand just south of 5th st.

its because of the angle and elevation in which the picture was taken, also bunker hill is 30 feet higher in elevation than the Wilshire Grand site.

th Wilshire grand to the top of the crown will appear to be about 40 -50 feet shorter than the roof of the US Bank tower since the top of the Wilshire Grand crown is exactly 1,000 feet, and the USBT roof is at 1,018 feet, but overall the Wilshire Grand tower will apear to be taller because of its 100 foot spire, making it appear to be only 50 feet taller than the USBT. so we will have a new supertall towering above all others overlooking the city of angels with its bright spire.

Here's a fantastic shot that shows just how much of the hotel is gone.

I took this this afternoon. There is heavy equipment at work demolishing the top floors of the Francisco/7th street wing. It also looks like some demo work has started on the top floors of the Wilshire wing, although you can't see it from this picture.

Nice progress!

Regarding the thread title, shouldn't it be 335 meters since it's 1,100 feet?

Also, it is high time to erase some of those parking lots in DTLA and start building more high-mid rise condos. Look at what they are doing in Hollywood. It think it's wonderful. It shows tha LA is still alive.

There are numerous parking lots that have disappeared in the last few months and many many more to soon go away. close to 6000 units u/c or soon to be

unfortunately, that project is dead but they are under construction on a huge 750 unit project on the site. 8 story glass / steel building with a (almost confirmed) whole foods on the first floor

Looks look the Transbay Joint Powers Authority is planning to add a "superstructure" to the Transbay Tower in SF which might push the height beyond 1,100 feet and thus getting the title of tallest building in the westcoast. Either way, I'll be happy for both cities, but it'll be interesting to see if Korean Air responds by making the Wilshire Grand taller.

I don't get why they would do that. I mean, Transbay Tower would have had the title anyway.
