Even the most famous NJ born star Frank Sinatra sang about being jealous of NY! I think people understand though that it's more of a land issue. NJ has more room for stadiums. They can't build east of Manhattan because there are 2 boroughs (BK and QNS) which are congested. So the easiest thing for the teams to do is build just west of the city in Jersey.

It gets kind of annoying having to say NY/NJ...it's really a NY thing just taking place in NJ. Both teams have clear NY roots. What always confused me is how people in NJ totally forget about big cities of their own like Hoboken, Paterson, Jersey City, Newark, etc. I would feel very weird living in NY my whole life but essentially acting like I represent a city in NJ. I guess I'm a border freak. To me NY is NY and NJ is NJ.
It's all about the market. I'm pretty sure that NJ residents DO get annoyed that their state doesn't get represented in national events like these despite being hosted in NJ. But they don't have a choice... NYC dominates the market in the area and its the economic and cultural center of the New York metropolitan region.

I'm a New Yorker but I've grown used to this false advertising and I'm sure the residents of the garden state hate it as much as we do. Blame the media and the marketers trying to make money off New York's popularity not the residents of NJ.

Bottom line is NYC is what holds this whole region together. I guess it comes with the territory...

None of the towers are being scrapped, including 5. Tower 2 is being built to its original height not sure what your talking about there, but I do agree I would much rather see 2 go up before 3 but unfortunately that's not the case considering 2 is almost the same price as 1 and sadly will need a lot of commitment then the easier requirments for 3, and since 3 is already 7 floors above ground they can restart construction in a matter of weeks while 2 will sadly take months to restart because of the way the "hibernated" it...

I stayed up too late tonight working on this. I corrected the platforms and cable attachment section and finished the cross bracing between tubes. The later took over four hours.

PMad, are you doing your 3D designs for fun, or are you involved in the project somehow? I'm just curious

Tears of Joy, this looks like the North Tower. My goodness, I never thought it would look this alike.

Maybe not scrapped but put off for YEARS,, Like 2018 If it's EVER built. I hope you're right but I don't think it'll happen.. I heard 5 was Definitley never gonna happen. I heard that in these forums.. From much more knowledgeable ppl than myself about the whole project.

Well I'm hopeful they find tenants before that but who knows, it will get done and that's all that matters, as for 5...it's not dead only the design for when JP Morgan was to have the tower, the PA owns the site and an article not to long ago spoke about the options the PA were exploring for Tower 5 which no doubt will be last to go up, some insiders at the WTC on these forums,
more knowledgable then the ones who think they are have stated it will happen.....eventually.

I know! Especially viewing it from my cousins apartment in Chelsea that view in my opinion most resembles the North Tower, it's kinda sad and eerie but cool at the same time

I have a insatiable urge to see it in person now, What a beautiful tower!, after going through so much it must feel good as a city to finally overcome that empty space in Lower Manhattan.

I'm getting less and less enthusiastic about this antenna.
On this pic it looks like a piece of dead wood compared to the beautyful glass facade.
The spire would have been so much better.

It will take time for lower Manhattan to absorb so much new office space, especially during this stagnant "recovery". And let's face it. Technological advances in the past decade have improved efficiency in the financial services sector, the bread and butter of lower Manhattan. That means fewer workers in smaller office spaces. The area may never need to rebuild all the space that was lost on 9/11/01. One World Trade has @ 2.5 million gross square feet compared to 4 million for *each* of the original twins.
