Puente de Trinidad de Arre (Ezkabarte / Ezcabarte <Trinidad de Arre>) – Navarre Community
The Trinidad de Arre Basilica is a strategic location that has its origins in Roman times, with a medieval bridge of six arches built in the Middle Ages, on the river Ulzama. In their enclave was a hospice and it reached its greatest splendor as Clavería of Roncesvalles (defense of that region of Roncesvalles).

The viaduct Fernando Hue (or Old Viaduct) in Teruel (Spain) was designed by the engineer Fernando de la Barrera Hue and built in 1929 to facilitate urban sprawl to the south of Teruel and its communication with the region of Valencia.

One of the civil engineering works of early twentieth-century Spain's most important at the time.

Its construction took at least seven years, due to economic difficulties. It opened on October 29, 1929.

Viaducto de Portomarín y el viejo puente medieval (Portomarín), Lugo Province – Galicia Community
After the summer drought, the Minho reveals the secrets of the old Portomarín and ghosts emerge riverbed. It is the conjunction of life and death ...

The traveler who crosses the Portomarín viaduct to modern village, still amazed with Minho river drought when it arise ghosts of the past.

They look like a medieval bridge, ever reappearing after intensely rainy day, parallel to the bridge of the times, but almost next to the river bed.

Viaductos abandonados de La Fregeneda -Línea férrea Salamanca/Portugal- (La Fregeneda), Salamanca Province – Castile & Leon Community
The stretch of railway line Salamanca-Portugal between La Fregeneda and Barca D'Alva (Portugal) was completed in 1887 after four years of work.
Its construction was a great technical and human challenge. The stretch of about 17km starts at about 400m height above sea level to end at about 150m to bridge this gap and difficult terrain were 20 tunnels and 13 bridges.

All the section runs through Spanish territory and along the river Agueda, with the left bank of this river Portuguese territory. The last of the 13 bridges crossing the Agueda river already being international.

After almost 100 years of use in 1985 was closed to traffic.

Puente de Hispanoamérica o de la Hispanidad (Valladolid) – Castile & Leon Community
The Hispanoamerica Bridge is a asymmetric suspension bridge of Valladolid (Spain).

The main span is 120 meters and has two planes of bracing, and pylons have the special feature of having the form of a triangular frame, so that the straps, instead of going to the counter as usual, are anchored so that the tensile load transmitted through the frame side of the river farthest counterweight. The pylons (also called "sail" by the authors) are prestressed concrete in which they are in tension and its height is about 25 meters, the width of the board are 34 meters, including a two-lane roadway for motor vehicles , one bike and sidewalk in each direction separated by a median. The small span length (the one that closes the triangle) is 36 meters, the total length would be 156 meters. [/url]

Canal de Isabel II –CYII- (Madrid) – Madrid Community (I)
The Canal de Isabel II (or CYII) is the Spanish public company management rushing water cycle in almost all of the Community of Madrid, that is, it manages all the processes that allow the proper administration of water resources.

From Philip II, monarch who installed the Court in Madrid, the history of this city has been linked to a constant search for drinking water supplies. Until then, the traditional supply system consisted of digging wells to access underground water available and, a little later, in the use of springs near Madrid.

Although it did several projects to supply water to the city from the mideighteenth century, it was not until 1848, when it was finally approved the memory of a provisional draft of supply to Madrid with Lozoya river. The project was written with such foresight that was more than enough to supply a population twice that existed. Although it looked fantastic for the time, had, in fact, such a vision of the future that are currently running some of the original features.

The post referred to the Canal de Isabel II will be put into several chapters which will use a fantastic collection of photographs of the construction of the canal in the nineteenth century (dams, bridges and aqueducts). These photographs will be supplemented with current photographs of the situation the works in the present, in many cases disappeared by the growth of Madrid.

I - PRESA DEL PONTÓN DE LA OLIVA

The first stone of the works in the catchment dam, called “Pontón de la Oliva” was laid on August 11, 1851 by Francisco de Asís Borbón, King Consort. Seven years later, after the major impetus for the project which led to the passing of Manuel Alonso Martínez by the Ministry of Development, on June 24, 1858, the official opening took place in the Ancha de San Bernardo street, the water arrival to Madrid.
