I agree.

But when traffic do pick up in the future you may have problems associated with the use of parallel taxiway. The Air force as you know are using the same runway too and they are just across the terminal.

If I have my way, I rather install the future taxiway at the EAAB section similar to the upcoming new PPS terminal. They dislocated the Airbase similar to Villamor. Its cheaper that way.

When we step back in history, this airport was really an airbase used later by civilians. Talking about the Air Force ejected from its own house.
That's an idea. But where would you relocate the airbase? I know for a fact that once in a great while ZIA is also being used by the visiting VFA whenever there are insurgent issues in that region.

Im counting 8 helipad bays which is meant for the Sokols, unfortunately PAF heads just woke up from their dreams to realize that they are ineffective for multi-role combat. The Hueys still reign at EAAB. Thanks for sharing this ramp pics.

Hundreds stranded in Zamboanga Airport due to flooding in Manila

Thursday, 22 August 2013 14:54

Quote:
Hundreds of passengers were stranded at the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA) on Tuesday afternoon after their flights were delayed due to the bad weather condition in Metro Manila the past days.

The passengers had to wait for hours before the flights resumed.

Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon experienced heavy rains that caused massive flooding in about 70% of Manila brought about by typhoon Maring.

The storm also caused some international and domestic flights to be cancelled.

According to PAGASA, they expect the weather to improve starting today.

PAL Advisory
September 10, 2013 (As of 8PM)

PAL flights to Zamboanga remain cancelled for September 11 and 12 (Wednesday and Thursday) after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) extended the closure of Zamboanga airport due to ongoing insurgent activities in the city. Cancelled are 20 flights from Zamboanga going to Manila, Cebu, Tawi-Tawi, Jolo and Davao.
These include:
· All Manila-Zamboanga-Manila flights for September 11 and 12
· All flights operating in and out of Zamboanga for Sept. 11, namely
· Cebu - Zamboanga - Cebu
· Zamboanga - Tawi-Tawi - Zamboanga
· Zamboanga - Jolo - Zamboanga
· Zamboanga - Davao - Zamboanga
Affected passengers are advised not to proceed to the airport; instead call PAL/PAL Express Reservations hotlines (02) 855-8888 or (02) 855-9000 or proceed to any PAL or PAL Express ticket office for rebooking or refund assistance. Rebooking penalties will be waived.
PAL has cancelled a total of 33 flights to/from Zamboanga since September 9, affecting more than 2,500 passengers.

Tsk tsk.

President Benigno S. Aquino III inspects the facilities of the Zamboanga City Airport on Thursday (September 19, 2013). The airport resumed operation Thursday after it was shut down at the start of the standoff between the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and government forces last week.
