1- google maps is no point of reference, about roads.
2- formal naming has not happened

Google maps is quite detailed about roads but not about road numbers and street names. Too many misplaced labels.

Also wiki still uses RA17 (but it says that A34 will be used)
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raccordo_autostradale_17
I guess A34 won't became official until works are completed.

In third week of October I intend to drive in Italy from Bari to Reggio di Calabria/vice versa and on Sicily. Therefore I have some questions:
1) Bari - Taranto A14, possible delays due to the roadworks, toll?
2) Taranto - Sibari SS106 (E90): from Taranto to Nova Siri Scalo divided expressway, speed limit? From NSS to Sibari common road, speed limit?
3) Sibari - Masseria Nola E844 undivided expressway, speed limit?
4) Masseria Nola - Reggio di Calabria A3, speed limit, possible delays due to the roadworks, is it true that this part of A3 is toll free, because on GoogleEarth there is no toll booths on exits?
Thanks in advance.

That sector is empty in October. Toll € 5,40

Speed limit varies. 110 on official divided expressways unless otherwise posted. Lower speed limits are posted in some sectors, beware of them (camera enforcement!)

I think it is 90km/h.

There are no tolls on A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria.

Speed limit varies wildly.

Several sectors have ongoing works for modernization. Some of the critical sectors were opened this summer. Others remain under reconstructions, meaning: traffic diverted to just one carriageway for several kms, low limits (60km/h). October shouldn't be a problem, summer traffic is gone. That highway is amazing, just be careful on construction zones (you shall encounter around 50km of work zones roughly).

Last night BreBeMi (future A35) and TEEM, near Milan were finally connected. The 135-ton section of the viaduct between the two autostrade was put in place in 4 hours. The whole viaduct, now complete, weighs 2437 tons.

Arco Teem (the section of TEEM most prioritary, the 7.5 km stretch necessary for BreBeMi) is now 40% completed. Completion is expected in May 2014.

That's odd. I don't think it's country-protected, maybe you don't have the necessary viewer installed in your pc. I'll see if I can find the same video somewhere else.

It's not, since I live in IT and I have the same problem.

Chrome. That video is in .swf extension, so Shockwave Player. I thought it was absorbed by Adobe Flash...

Ok, you can download the video:

and view it offline with players like VLC.
