A 2000 meter in 17 years is a pipe dream. It will not happen. I think 1300- 1600 mts would be close to reality. If the world economies do well without any hiccups.

Saudi-Milliardär Prinz Alwaleed bin Talal could build the one mile high tower instead of the TV Tower in Berlin. In Germany it is really time for a world record and Berlin is how made for this tower..

Well, if it would have a restaurant up there it wouldn't be a spire anymore. But yeah, I agree that we'll probably see more buildings like the Empire State Building or Abby, which utilize this phenomenon

They already have,Finnish elevator company KONE has elevators that can reach 1 km now. Imagine what 17 years of extra technological progress can do.

when man talks about the future the gods laugh,when the empire state building was finished they said by the year 2000 we would have mile high buildings. and at the rate buildings were going up it made sense, but at 2013 were only half way there.
tall buildings are strickley for status they arent very economical.
