West Didsbury to Piccadilly
Two new destination this Sunday then "West Didsbury" and "Abraham Moss" I wonder what they are doing between West Didsbury and East Didsbury on Sunday for that bit of line to be closed?

EDIT: I see Altrincham line will be running to Etihad on Saturday 22nd because of City playing at home.

Fiddling with the points at East Didsbury I think, the right hand platform has been out of use for about a week now. (the points have been clipped and scotched and the toe of the trailing point is fenced off).

Platforms have been cut back, speed restriction still officially in place.

Back to the present now Charter!

I hear the last 3 T68s have been stood down this morning 1007, 1016 and 1022 were officially taken out of service today with the final T68 runs being 1016 and 1022 as a double last Monday morning. The set failed that morning around lunchtime.

How come 1007 was stood down too? If have thought since they're using T68As on the bury shuttles that they'd use the remaining T68s (left at time if closure) too?

Friday 21 February

The following tram services will operate:
Bury – Abraham Moss
Rochdale – Central Park
Eccles – Ashton via MediaCityUK
Altrincham – Piccadilly
East Didsbury – Piccadilly

The following services will operate with replacement buses:
Abraham Moss to Shudehill and Piccadilly
Central Park to Shudehill and Piccadilly
People going to work AM on Friday 21/2 and needing to use the Eccles line aren't going to be too pleased to discover there's only half the usual number of trams running.
(There's a way around this, but it would require two extra trams compared to the usual peak turnout).
Going home, things won't be any worse than they are on any midweek Etihad matchday.

Note that the bus substitution on the Bury line is again being given as Abraham Moss to Piccadilly.

I think the answer to that one is probably that, by current thinking, they simply aren't needed. Discounting 3013/62/78/9 leaves 75 M5000s available for service, adding the two T68As makes 77, that should be enough for a peak turnout of 65.
(Note the phraseology).

Thanks guess it makes sense Sad loss, but that'll now be 36 trams rusting at old Trafford, surely some kind of scrapping contract will need to be signed this year? Otherwise as more of the fleet gets delivered OTD will start to get pushed for space.

The OT Depot can house 96 trams. So I think it'lll cope.

I reckon that, if and when the remaining withdrawn T68s are moved to Trafford, there will be 29 withdrawn T68/T68As stored there - 1001-10/2-26, 2002/4-6.
(There were only 32 T68/T68As to begin with).

Apparently the contract for the removal and scrapping has been signed. I think they were just waiting for the full lot before they started. Over the next two weeks should start to see them go, where I have no idea.

One tram is to head for the sidings at the ELR unfortunately not for safe keeping but as a fire and rescue training aid.

Good night T68s. I will miss you!

Wonder how long the unit at the ELR will last before it rusts away, or will they use a T68A which have been said to be less rusty?

I thought that they would last until 20th February but it seen not. (well the might if 1016+1022 didn't failed this morning)

Have anyone seen 3061 tram lately as I'm sure someone on here (I think it was Bradford but not sure) said that this tram haven't been in service for past two weeks and may be having ATS and VRS fitted on it and wondering if this still happening?

Suppose, the ERU on LU use an old 1983 stock carriage and that hasn't faired so well!

Well they did that a bit on the sly, cheeky buggers (I wanted to use another word there but sadly I love Metrolink too much.) I'm just lucky I had one last ride on 1022, my favourite T68. Rest in peace, Lovely Rolloping Vehicles.

Still need to get out on 2001 & 2003, the Class 323 of the Light Rail world!
