The main difference was that the bus cost one fifth of the train and got built in one fifth of the time. It was great politics as the Lahore bus line is Exhibit A in PMLN's showcase. It was a short term spectacular at the cost of a long term solution.

If Bahria tries to build a bus line on Karachi's main metro route I will oppose it tooth and nail.

If Musharraf had remained in power there would have been metro trains running in Lahore and Karachi by now as planned. They had the designs and funding ready. As soon as PPP came to power ALL projects in Karachi came to a full stop and all funding was directed towards other places, but ultimately Sindh didn't get anything either, so no one knows where all the money went.

Peshawar also needs a metro train on the busiest route, as long as there's money available. It needs to be an integrated system with metro trains running on busy routes and buses on lesser ones.

All of this needs to be planned by traffic engineers with proper qualifications and a long term view rather than politicians looking for immediate applause.
My dear Cost of BRTS Lahore was $ 0.3 Billion for the same rail's cost was $ 2.3 billion which needed investor on BOT as well as sovereign guarantees for Federal Govt .... so get the investor and implement it

Peshawar should go for metro train whether it will take 3 or 5 years, until that time they can run normal buses on roads...

So Lahore will have a Monorail (orange line) after the Metro Bus (green line). What will Peshawar have? Metro train or Monorail?

Monorail (Canal road) - 22 km

No idea about Peshawar. As they have not finalized yet.

I think Peshawar will have both "metro/monorail" and "rapid bus" as IK told in the video.

@Intoxication ... Ok, I'll draw and post in mass transit thread soon.

No jangla bus in Peshawar. IK said he will NOT build a jangla. Only regular bus service.

Metro bhai! sorry to differ. But, my point is, i have been listening/reading comments like this at many places. I want to ask, who had stopped Musharaf to execute all those projects. Is this merely by chance that all the feasibilities + zabani jama kharch was ready in his short duration of 9 years , and everything was planned to be start building on the day very next to end of his term.

Had these projects been at some stage (say 10%, 20%) on ground by end of his tenure, i would have definitely agreed with u. There is no doubt that Pakistan (and probably most of the world) was going good in those years, but i would term it as lack of practical vision to implement things on ground rather than paper plans aka zabani jama kharch.

Anyways, this is just my feeling, which may be wrong and any difference on this is welcome by me.

brothers we should come out from our dreams that this will happen...and he will build this and he will build that... you should see that who actually did some work on ground not in papers ... so in that case Shabaz Sahrif is leading right now...

Musharraf wasted 8 years on paper work and feasibility reports, now PPP will waste 16 years on Karachi circular railway

Good. I can see competition. Seems obvious that the meeting took place a day after launch of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Project
