I think American cities should be brighter at night. San Jose has a power saving ordinance I believe, and it is absolutely depressing at night, not that anyone is awake except for the pimps n' hoes.

Downtown SF is nice and bright at night, but it isn't really interesting to look at from the outside.

Yeah, it's a boxy skyline, so it's the office windows that really light it up, at opposed to cities with chocked full of signature skyscrapers with lit crowns and spires. There are two types of nighttime skylines depending on the general build of the skyline.

I think cities should light up in the evening hours but start power saving at say 2-3am.(in response to san jose ordinance)

Everyone in the great City of Indianapolis lights up by themselves, in their bedrooms, while watching funny cartoons such as The Simpsons.

Atlanta looks pretty sweet. San Francisco looks awesome at night from across the bay, and New York is just stupid cool looking at night.
I'm surprised nobody has posted any of LA. LA is lit up like crazy and you can get views of the city that you could only get from an airplane in Chicago or New York. LA from the Hollywood Hills is awesome and LA from the observatory on a clear night is ridiculous. "Took a look around, see which way the wind blow Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Light Or just another lost angel...City of Night "

Great pictures of my home away from home: Atlanta.
That last picture can't be from 15 miles away though. I live 3 miles away from Midtown and the skyline looks like that. 15 miles from midtown is a good ways outside the perimeter. Maybe my memory is retarded though, I've been outside of A-town for a month... |

Atlanta is the perfect example of a peaked-filled skyline, and shows how much more of a difference it makes compared to boxier sklyines, some of which are larger.

Atlanta's skyline is just so interesting and filled with crowns. Its great and provides a lot of lighting opportunity. That's why I like it over Houston and Miami as the best southern skyline.

Atlanta has done a great job of setting itself apart from other southern skylines. I personally find Atlanta's best time to view the skyline right before the sunrise. Anyone agree? LOL, thats the next thread...your skyline in the sunrise!
![]() Have you ever seen the movie Alien Encounters? Buffalo: that one sqaure looking building with the cosmic lights reminds me of it.. lol!
