Good to see Raleigh in this type of lists. I wonder, who contacted this study? I went to Yahoo and looked for the article, but couldn't find it. Thanks for posting the screenshot, willrusso

There is no article. It is simply an indication that a number of people have searched for real estate in a particular city on Yahoo's Real Estate section. The next time that appears in Pulse, you will see 5 different cities there.

Here are the cities listed there as of right now... San Diego, Las Vegas, Orlando, Houston, Chicago. Go check again in 10 minutes, you may get 5 different cities. It's all about what people are searching for.

Thanks for clarifying it, Evan. I know that Raleigh's real estate market is still hot when it comes to relocations, but No 1 seems a little bit too much. Nice to see my city making the list, though.

Yeah its still good news for your area. It means that enough people did a search for Raleigh to bump it to the top 5 of Yahoo's real estate section. Not a bad spot to be in.

Symphony Hall

Penguin, do you have access to any pix and info on Raleigh's Symphony Hall? I remember reading a few years ago in a NY Times review that the building has excellent accoustics and that, amazingly, it was build for about $19 million. Is that cost figure accurate? I believe it is adjacent to the big municipal theatre at the foot of Fayetteville Street. Any info as to how it was funded, its seating capacity and other pertinent details would be appreciated.

Is it not true that the Civic Center Theatre was completely re-done prior to construction of the music hall?

Congratulations on making Yahoo's front page.

I know others had posted photos and links. But I wanted to add more pics and info. You are probably thinking about the Meymandi Concert Hall; which is part of the Progress Energy Performing Arts Center (formerly the BTI Performing Arts Center). Maymandi Concert Hall is the home of the NC Symphony. The hall is based off of Boston's Symphony Hall; which is known to be one of the top 3 concert halls in the world and the best in the USA; acoustically speaking. So, Meymandi is like a smaller, more modern version of Symphony Hall in Boston.
I have been in the hall and it sounds great. My former teacher is a member of the NC Symphony

Here are a few pics:

Meymandi Concert Hall

Penguin, Plus2 and Triadcat, I can't thank you enough. All of this is exactly the information I want. Is there any way all three of your contributions could be transferred to Virginia Performing Arts thread in Richmond at http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums? I have writen of the Raleigh hall and your links would be most helpful.

I do not post at UP, but I guess someone who does could combine this information into one post.

Thanks to Penquin, Plus2 and especially Triadcat who succeeded in getting this information where I wanted it to go.

I had no idea that Raleigh had such nice performance facilities, although as an actor I once played the Municipal Hall back in 1955. It didn't look nearly as good then.

Again thanks to all.
