Insane. I wonder if HK architects are suited for this...they're used to providing maximized plot ratio with thousands of units, complete with boxy design and bay windows throughout. Glass? What's that?

It looks weird because the proportions don't fit. It will totally destroy the image of the rest of the skyscrapers. The will look like dwarfes.
Nothing wrong with the design though.

Yes it is insane but we must consider that the entire continent off Asia is economical booming and people`s ego`s are growing ass well. Thats why they all want a super prestige building for their floreshing country`s.

why don´t you stop this silly discussion, really it doesn´t gets anywhere, I think this building looks great, and not over the top, because in 20 years there will be residential buildings this tall in many places around the world and it will be considered as normal, (including latin american countries as Panama, that´s not that far from that reality), the only difference is that Dubai is being a pioneer on what´s next to come for the whole world, you will see i´m right.

I like this one. Its style and design is an elegant departure from the norm. It's too bad we don't have as much unique architecture here in the US. Asia has some brilliant architects designing their buildings. |

It's not that US Architect can't design brilliant and spectacular buildings, in contrary, alot of them are designed by US architects. The problem is with the CONSERVATIVE market in US, where a building must be a functional box. |
