The Lofts at Waverley (on the corner of Strawbridge) will are proposed at 120' tall. The ordenance was approved by the city council on march 27, 2007 but it may have been revisited at the next meeting (minutes not yet published). There are several other proposals floating through the approvals process. Some of these are facing stiff opposition.

I believe they do but I don't know the details. All proposals for towers seem to require variances.

Another proposal for two condo towers south of Crane Creek just bit the dust and has been replaced with a medical office building which is six stories high

No problem, I wish we had a vista like that in our Melbourne. How ever we can watch the space shuttle from our front porch.

I'm pretty sure Melbourne already has highrises taller than this one. Maybe not downtown though ?

Two in downtown and one in Eau Gallie appear to be taller. There are a fair number in the 8-11 story range.

Aren't towers generally taller than they are wide? This is a mid-rise, not a high-rise. And I don't think it's a tower either.

I was fooled by the perspectives. The building in Eau Gallie (Ramshur Towers) is only nine stories plus parking on the ground level.

The two towers in Melbourne are 17 and 14 stories. All these buildings are fairly old and in need of renovation. In the next few weeks I will start to review the the taller buildings in the ocean front (i.e. beachside).

Out on the island beaches south of Melbourne Beach is a lone medium rise condo which stands out on the Melbourne/Palm Bay horizon. It is the Ebbtide condominiums and it has 12 story's plus a ground floor.

Not very tall ! However on this stretch of the Brevard County beaches it is the dominant building. Over the next few months, I will work my way north to find all the buildings along the beach which are taller than 9 stories.

Driving back to Melbourne over the Melbourne Causway, the Trinity Towers are obviously the tallest buildings with the Holmes Regional Medical Center fairly dominant at about 7 storys. The other building along the Indian river are all in the 4-6 storys range

If you are really lucky, I will figure out how to post photographs!
