from official web page

one car rail bus
Operation of rail-buses manufactured by our company allows for restoration of local connections on lines, in which railroad transport carried out with the use of traditional traction units ceased to be profitable. It also improves economics of transport on the operated lines. The most important features of rail-bus are: video-monitoring of interior of vehicle, cruise control, aluminum sheathing and pneumatic springs (2-nd phase of bogie de-springing).
Overall length of the vehicle 24500 mm
Kerb weight 43,5 t
Gross weight 46 t
Mimimum curve radius 75 m
Nominal power* 350 kW or 500 kW
Maximum speed 120 km/h
Axle load at gross weight
120 kN
Fuel tank capacity 2 x 420 l
Seating / standing capacity* 70 / 90

Two-car diesel rail-bus
On non-electrified routes, where passenger flow is too low for traditional traction units, and too high for a single rail-bus we offer implementation of two-car diesel rail-buses.
An economical, modern, one-space vehicle is powered by one or two diesel engines (depending on the options and requirements of Customer), meeting high standards of emission exhausts will provide carriers with a possibility of optimal solving of regional and local transport problems. As a response to the highest needs of our Customers, there is a possibility of extending the vehicle up to a 3-car version.

Cool pics

But one question bothers me for a long time:
Why do trains in Poland have such giant headlights?

I mean if you compare to other trains, for example a diesel loco in Latvia:

The same model but rebuild in/for Poland:

The answer is in old rail law. It's true that all locomotive (and many trains) in Poland have three big headlights. Each one light can be red or white or off.
Three or two (left and right) lights white- it means that train is on main line.
One light white - left or right- train is standing on side-track or train is rolling cars between rails.
Two red lights (headlight and right or left) and one white - rail machine is working

Kl Id like to see a second line in the Tricity but one thing constantly bothers me... When is the SKM going to change its Rolling stock?? they should follow the example of warsaws SKM! also Line one could do with some upgrading when i was in Gdansk/Wladyslawowo last summer the skm stations were quite dirty!!
Id like to see something like this in Gdansk and Krakow after i read in the Krakow developement stratergy for 2007-2013 that they plan to build an SKM as well in the years 2009-2012!!

On pictures you show 14 WE of 'SKM Warsaw' on platform Warsaw Rembertůw. It's private corporation (associate with Warsaw Public Transport System). They've got only seven new trains.Trains are every 30 minutes (not at regular intervals). For more then year they rent modernized train from 'SKM Trojmiasto' (PKP SKM 3 CITY). Some of them are still in Warsaw colors. The name of SKM Warsaw is on base of name PKP SKM 3 CITY. PKP SKM is part of Polish Public Railway (they don't have much money). PKP SKM 3 CITY has got many modernized trains. On your pictures train is on line with has been modernized by Polish Public Railway System few years ago, so now you know why there are so nice platforms. (1st and 3rd pictures are made at the same platform)(SKM Warsaw doesn't have own rail line). PKP SKM TROJMIASTO (3 CITY) have own rail line and trains are every 7 and 8 minutes in rush hours and every quarter after. There are few nice platforms too. Gdansk Technology University,Gdansk Zaspa, Gdansk Przymorze-University,Sopot Kamienny Potok, Gdynia Redłowo, Gdynia Center (in plan on 2007,they started in building), Gdynia Shipyard, Gdynia Cisowa (I don't remember what is the condition platforms after Gdynia).
Train 14WE (Warsaw) is made on base EN-57 (3 CITY), so you can't call it new train

Man im not attacking the tricity SKM i think it is a good piece of public transport, many polish city's would benefit from such a line/s. I know that the 14WE is based on the EN57. I just think that alongside the modernised EZT there should be something new along side the new second line. Anyway Warsaw SKM is buying new 14WE trains because the deal with the Tricity SKM will runout and they will have to return the trains.

those are the ones that are on hire from the tricity SKM.

Have PKP ever thourght of selling PKP SKM, it would make sense im sure a private owner would do well, in terms of inestment and so on. Didnt Arriva want to buy the Tricity SKM?? i remember reading it in the Dziennik a couple of monthes back that Arriva want to come onto the Polish urban transit market and are Eyeing up the Tricity SKM

You started the subject so I show differences between two different system under the same name for other people reading this thread. I don't attack anything and anybody my friend. I know that PKP SKM 3 City is really good system (I use it few times every day).
As I know PKP (Polish Public Railway) doesn't want to privatize SKM in near future.
In this year four another trains were send to modernize to ZNTK Minsk Mazowiecki.
New trains will have new face and such thinks like air-condition.
Of course they will be in colors of SKM

mmm i personally think urban transport should have different rolling stock than PKP przewozy regionalne. For me PKP PR should just use the new Acatus which they plan to do by 2012 and the modernised EN57. Urban transport should have completly different rolling stock, do you think the Tricity would do better with a unified private public transport? so tram, bus, SKM, and trolley bus under one company in all tricity.

Acatus ED59 and EN61 (SKM Warsaw) are expensive trains.
After many years we will have one ticket on public transport in next month.
- You can buy ticket on one public transport corporation (ZKM Gdynia or ZTM Gdansk or SKM 3CITY)
- Both city's public transport system (ZKM + ZTM)
- One city system system and SKM (ZKM + SKM or ZTM + SKM)
- For every think (ZTM + ZKM + SKM)

Thats good one ticket for everything is a good thing. We have such a system in Krakow but only for bus and Tram. For Railbus it is different. Anyway I know they are expensive but PKP is getting 8 billion euro, from EU in next years they should be afford new trains. I have a question can you get a boat from gdansk to anyhwhere else along the Polish Coast. for example;Gdansk Szczecin or, Gdansk Kolobrzeg??

PS; PKP intercity is going to be privatised, i read that the economists in the ministry of finance have urged for it to be made private. The ministry of Finance have created a list of 40 state controlled companies that should be sold in years 2007-2011. I have to get my hands on this List.

Gdansk gave green light for red line of SKM 3CITY.
It will be one electric railway line between Gdansk Wrzeszcz and Gdansk Osowa by Gdansk Rembiechowo Airport. After that station it will be double electric line (on a base of old PKP line from Gdynia to Zukowo, now it's line for diesel trains). Probably line will be serve by electric rail buses like EN81 (on picture train from Swietokrzyskie regional trains).

I'd like to know what do you think about transport system in TRI-CITY?
Two big city's and few towns. It give us only 1million people. All city's and towns are in one line between creek and hills.
