I give it a big thumbs up... heh heh heh.

Very impressive looking tower, and great proposal, as unsolicited as it may be.

Ive always wanted to see the portals to the subway moved to the side, take more advantage of the open space.

"..as unsolicited as it may be..."

Matt: this implies there is something not right about unsolicited proposals which is wrong. There is absolutely nothing irregular, bad or illegal about unsolicited proposals, in fact, it is how most projects are proposed, by the landowner.

A solicited proposal occurs when government/council asks for, i.e., 'solicits' ideas, proposals, for a particular site.

The media is usually to blame for this misconception, primarily b/c the media is largely ignorant & only partially literate so they make a non-news event bad news ergo 'newsworthy' by suggesting there is something underhand if a proposal is 'unsoliticited'. Most journalists don't know the difference or else ignore it for the sake of, not news, but a story.
Other culprits in the demonisation of unsolicited proposals are opposition politicians (of whoever is in government) and nimbies who have loud, negative opinions but know buggerall about the situation.

Pathetic & unnecessary.

Sorry what? I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with an unsolicited proposal, they happen all the time and are usually really interesting. However, the nature of them tends to be a sales pitch, something awesome, amazing renders, design that is "world class", then at DA stage the thumb turns into a middle finger.

If you read News limited or Fairfax then yeah maybe you might think somethings wrong, but not if you know better, or have an analytical head. There is no harm in using the term unsolicited, as long us you understand the term.

Fingers (and thumbs) crossed it remains this amazing.

OK, however, the phrase 'it may be' is ambiguous. Clearly I'm not having a go at you but all those types that make 'unsolicited' sound a bad thing whether through ignorance, incompetence or malice.

I know you are aware of all the b~shite that occurred in Sydney especially in relation to Barangaroo and Crown Hotel. Media, nimbies, politicians, etc., used the word 'unsolicited' as though it were akin to a crime of fraud, deception, etc. Applying to council to add a backyard shed is an unsolicited proposal but never let truth interfere with a 'good' story, an anti-development jihad, political advantage or just plain old mischief making.

I admit I'm more than a little touchy on the use of the phrase 'unsolicited proposal'.

In this case, it isn't entirely unsolicited as the government acquired the sites with the intention of having them developed as part of each metro station project but hadn't yet got around to soliciting proposals. Both Dexus and Macquarie, with established interest in the Martin Place site, were vying for advantage. Macquarie got in first.

Now we just have to hope The Thumb gets the thumbs up.

I'd still like a clearer image of what the South Bldg will be as it has been neglected in the glare of the star quality of the North Bldg.

A 34L/148m Leighton office project, designed by Cox, is edging closer to a start, with demolition and site preparation under way on the large site at 130 Lonsdale Street. Owned by the Wesley (Uniting) Church, Leighton has agreed to renovate the existing church buildings and establish a park. The 1926 Princess Mary Club is being demolished to make way for the tower. Thanks to PaPa for renders.

My timing could have been better, with PaPa posting a further update of design for 130 Lonsdale Street yesterday.

Has it gained a couple of levels to compensate for the top level setbacks? I count more than 34 now.

New design for 130 Lonsdale Street is a huge improvement over the old. Very nice indeed.

Looks great as does that observation deck! Love the internal wood.

After a very long period of time (late 1988-2017 about 28.5 years), it now looks like Adelaide will finally be back in the 100m club shortly. Demolition of the existing building is now nearly complete in preparation for the 30-floor Kodo Apartments on Angas Street, which at this stage will be our third tallest building at 103.2m. Sorry the photo's pretty bad.

The second, and tallest office tower (122m/27L/55,000 sq.m.), in Lend Lease's multi tower Melbourne Quarter has received planning approval. Thanks to PaPa Riddlz and Dean for renders. Work is under way on the first office tower and sky park.
