Getting close, although there's a few buildings complete, U/C and approved that are missing, and I think some of the heights might be wrong.

The list of missing buildings are:
16 Moore st (complete, the twin of 14 Moore St)
Highgate Tower 1 (demolition underway, same height as Industry House)
Highgate Tower 2 (demolition underway, same height as Industry House)
The Capitol (on sale with construction due to start 2017, same height as neighbouring AMP)
Section 52 Belconnen (24 & 18 level towers approved, 79m and ~60m)
Myuna building (~50m, office approved)

Also, I think some of your heights are wrong. Every height limit building in Civic is within a metre of 617ahd, so the variation only comes through ground height. Industry and Manhatten are the same height, SAP house slightly shorter (higher ground) while Customs is slightly taller for the same reason.

The north east of the city is very flat, so everything north of AMP will be almost exactly 50m.

And there is news just up on Canberra Times about some more Hi-Rise friendly rezoning for the Woden Green.

I would post the link but I need more posts first...

Still seems like there is no news regarding the Canberra Centre works. I did find this bit on their website though
Quote:
In 2016 we have commenced a redevelopment in the old Monaro Mall precinct. Due for completion in 2017, this will bring more unique and specialty retailers to Canberra.

That's the refurbishment of the David Jones area of the Centre. Probably going to include stores like Topshop, H&M etc, although as far as I'm aware nothing is 'confirmed'.

That was my point. Usually they're trying to generate heaps of hype. Maybe they don't have an anchor tenant yet?

I'm not surprised they haven't announced the retailers that will be occupying that space. They'd want to keep that under their hat til it's close to opening. So that they get maximum exposure/excitement.
But it is odd not to have any public statement at all about what they are doing, or when it is expected to be finished. It's well over a year now since the work started.

I just keep hearing Topshop as one of them.

It's actually fairly standard practice not to announce major tenants until the last minute.

If you think back to the opening of both the Apple Store and Zara, the official announcements only occurred very shortly before doors opened. If I recall correctly Zara was announced just before xmas and was open by feb/march, while Apple only confirmed its opening a few weeks beforehand.

But this is a whole section of the centre. It wont be just confined to one retailer. I would've thought they'd say something about it.

Was stuffing around with maps and of course I love the original Walter Burley Griffin design. Also I love trains so was thinking about through my experiences of using the Canberra railway station that the area needs a bit of a revamp and hopefully try to go back to WBG's roots.

Bit of a pipe-dream but thought it would be nice to give Canberra a more fitting railway station...

Good plan, I'm sure there is at least some half thought to using a similar alignment for extending the light rail to Fyshwick and Queanbeyan in the future. It would make sense to run a line down Wentworth to service Kingston and the Foreshore anyway, and I'm pretty sure all the public housing around the causeway is living on borrowed time once Kingston Foreshore proper is built out (five years tops)

It's a major pity they never followed through on a major train line into the city, but I think the previous Governments idea of running a HSR route through a tunnel under Ainslie to a new station under Aisnlie Avenue makes a lot of sense.

True, That would be more most likely. I was trying to use a minimal disruption approach and just retweaking. Plus being close to the government triangle might be more beneficial.

Do you have any links on that about Aisnlie?

The Ainslie Ave proposal was set out in the HSR study report from a few years ago. The tunnel option under Mt Ainslie would seem to be a lot easier/cheaper than any other route into the CBD, although the airport owners have been pushing pretty hard to have any future HSR stop at the airport instead (saving up to a $billion), with a light rail link into the city.

I still don't understand why the station is in Kingston. Is it because they originally built it there when Civic did not exist and they did not want to bother to move it after?
In most cities, train stations are somewhat near the centre or in the centre themselves, look Sydney or Melbourne. Here it is not even in an important hub. What is Kingston? It's not even near any important town centre.
I live in the north side, I've only used it once. Currently it takes less time to go on the bus to Sydney than on the train. Although that's a whole other debate.
Unless you live in a small town on the way, why would you use the train to go to Sydney if it is going to take longer?
Currently there isn't even a direct line to Melbourne. You have to catch a bus to Albury and from there a train to Melbourne. No wonder people fly.
