Aerial photos of towns and cities in th uk!
Well, sorry if this has already been done, but I haven't seen much else in the way of aerials.
I think it would be nice to see some different perspectives of our places of residence, and I don't want to see any boring google earth angles! I've seen plenty of great shots of the major cities whilst looking on the web, but I'll leave it for you to decide which illustrates your town/city best. I'll start it off with a shot of my home city Bristol. It shows nearly two thirds of the centre, including the 'old town'.

My town Cumbernauld, well 3/4 of it. You can really see how linear it is in this photo.

There's almost nothing I love more than aerial views over towns and cities.

Got any of Dudley, Butterfield. Is Dudley a city or a town?

Thanks for that link Gherkin, loads of great pics on it.
Damn you in Corby you're so lucky, new town centre and massive expansion of your town. Wish we could have that up here in Cumbernauld, but the stupid Council is concentraiting on the areas in the south of the council as areas of Regeneration and Expansion.

Here's a handful of piccies of (the town of) Dudley, unfortunately my namesake Butterfield Court isn't on any of them.
![]() These do seem to be quite old. I live about 3 miles north of here ![]() In the background you can see Dudley Castle: ![]() And here is the aforementioned castle with part of the zoo that surrounds it: ![]() Here's a link to an aerial of Butterfield Court especially for you Mr. Butterfield: http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v...1470&encType=1 |

oooooooh, I like Butterfield Court.
![]() just found out Dudley is the second largest town in England after Reading. Dudley looks nice and that castle is a nice touch as well, the first pic looks like a proper city centre with tightly packed buildings and a few high rises, I love it. Hahaha good name there Mr. Butterfield, good yin

![]() The shopping centre is that white block in the middle, you may just be able to make out the mini scraper that is in my avatar when its working. That green space where the copyright mark on the left is about to dissapear under 3000 plus houses. Go here for some more of Telford http://www.webbaviation.co.uk/gallery/v/telford/ http://www.webbaviation.co.uk/telford/telford.htm While I'm here, this is our adorable little footy stadium ![]() I always sit in the 'F'

I like that last one. I love it when you can see rays of sunlight peefing through clouds (sighs happily).

Go right to the bottom centre of that pic an go up slowly til you see the building with the tiny light blueish/greyish/greenish roof. Thats Johnstone Castle Community centre. The building right next to that on the left is where i live
i shouldnt have said that on the internet ![]() Clydebank looks impressive from up there. Its not like that in real life folks

Butterfield - love those pics of Dudley - a real eye opener. As someone has already stated it looks fairly dense and highrise(and consisting of about 40% car park
).Mr B., did you take those photos yourself? Looks like you're nicely lined up with the runway in that Paisley shot. Some good stuff... |

You're right, that's one heck of a car park. If I've got my bearings right, the bottom part of that car park is no longer as Dudley Southern Bypass now blasts through it! And the tallish office block on the left of the first picture is currently being prepared for demolition.
It's been empty since 1994!

I'm jealous too. Our town centre is awful. They've been talking about redevelopment for about 8 years but zilch has actually happened, Not even an outline app.
