You can say I am radical, but I ardently against using monorail as rapid transport when there are other options. Chongqing have no better option than monorail due to the city is built on mountains, monorails offer better turning radius and allows higher climbing gradient than conventional rail. But in Kuala Lumpur, it is not the case.

By later years of next decade, KL Monorail may not even operational anymore. Dangerous! Unlike Chongqing which have monorail systems built to last and heavy duty, KL have monorails built like amusement ride, low capacity, without reservations for extension and expansion, expensive, poorly integrated and horrendously destroying beautiful skyline of city center. It even lacks emergency evacuation corridors in earlier times.

Tear it down, replace it with MRT Line 4.

seems most of the problem your blame monorail for is not the inherent flaws of the monorail technologies but rather how KLIG and the government then choose to implement them. i mean MRT/LRT viaduct are a long more intrusive than monorail pillars.

i think we should built stuff to best satisfied our need rather than our desire. monorail could works if the line isn't long that we needed the acceleration power of LRT?MRT. but mostly we really need to relook into whether we actually need grade separation at all for every PT we want to build. heavy rail type metro, tram and BRt aren't a bad ideas particularly when most of europe and australia are using it.

i'm really interested in the rolling stock of MRT3, whether they would be sensible and pick medium capacity metro ala LRT like singapore did. or whether they go all out because it cool

Actually that new 4-car monorail width from scomi is onpar with Bombardier monorail and BTS skytrain of Bangkok.

Scomi 3.08 m
BTS skytrain 3.12 m
Bombardier Innovia 3.15 m

That's why some people here feels different from previous version.

Eh? Didn't you see MRT3 (partial) route displayed at Expo NegaraKu at Dataran Merdeka, that's ending in next few days?

I think he meant "update" as in "any new info that's NOT what we already know in this thread."

Besdies that, I wanna say that I hope the proposed route is just ONE proposal, and a rejected one at that. A part of me feels that the route should go more south than Kerinchi and Midvalley.

So any future public display is only for show? Damn. We all have fooled by them on the first two MRT lines.

What I can see MRTCorp do the outline what MRT Circle should be look like but finalise route and stations is up to the MRT Circle tender winner.
Since this is turnkey project, its up to the developer to decide what would they build.
While MRT1, MRT2 is MRTCorp do all the hard works on development and design, then break them into project package, open the tender, winner get the packaged with specified specification from MRTCorp.

I'm hoping for their Setapak station to be an interchange with either Gombak or Taman Melati station.

Back then there was a proposal to integrate MRT1 with MRT2 at Pusat Bandar Damansara. That was when MRT2 was planned as a circle line.

I think right now MRT3 will intersect with SBK line at the provisional Bukit Kiara Station

I think after the public displays period the adjustment made is pretty minimal. One can probably adjust the station from left to right like persada plus station or remove it all together like kinrara. But I doubt one can ask to realign from going to mid valley to kerinchi.

There goes this then...

This location looks more sensible for interconnection than Bukit Kiara. Any idea why it's moved?

i don't really think digging MRT lines and building stations underneath rich man low rise houses on bukit damansara and bangsar is sensible by definition

What tender for MRT3 (circle line) are you talking about that would set the alignment in stone?

I'm looking at the location point of view, Pusat Bandar Damansara (PBD) against provisional station at Bukit Kiara (BK). PBD is already an existing commercial area as compared to BK.

exactly!

same goes to the one from Kuchai lama to Chan sow lin, there's another repeat-tracking. Better they divert to Bandar Sri Permaisuri since that town have a lot of commercial and residential + lake garden to cater urban commuters.

I bet the kerinchi station will take place at Bangsar South land and to connect with existing LRT via underpass walkaway below the federal highway. It'll connect both Kerinchi side (pantai baru side to pantai dalam / angkasa side more seamless which i totally agree). However, if they want to repar-tracking from Angkasapuri station to Pantai Dlam station, i recommend they go through Pantai Hillpark and add 1 more station in pantai sentral area. There's a lot of residences and commercial area within that area. I dont think pantai sentral and pantai hillpark will walk from their neighbourhood to nearest MRT/KTM station which will take around 700m- 1.2km. The best way is another station in the between kerinci and pantai dalam...and demolish that unnecessary Angkasapuri station... just connect Abdullah Hukum to bukit angkasa and taman halimaton via pedestation tunnel.
