Good news. The wall of ice in game of thrones = Bishopsgate.

Really? That was much quicker than anticipated, this was still occupied by some DB staff as far as I was aware.

The existing building is a timeless design in the International style which is infinitely preferable to the lumpen mess which will replace it.

Goodbye old friend you'll be missed. Sad to see yet another part of London's very limited high rise history confined to the history books.

Brilliant news ...this has to be one of my all time my favourite proposals.. helping to create that almost sci fi cluster that will eventually appear ....

Its might actually a bit behind as this was the site office for 22BG and they had to move out months back as demo was due to start.

Ohhhh dear. Come on- this isn't exactly the Seagram building, is it?

God knows how you will take it when St Helen's tower is inevitably torn down.

London has a long tradition of semi-detached houses. This is simply the logical progression from that

Oh God, does that mean we're going to have another building which is completely enveloped by darkness on one side a la The Scalpel?

It’s not going to matter as this side of the building is pretty much hidden by 22 BG

No great regrets about this going, but a slight lament. Not intended forever, but it's quite a tidy looking little tower.

It is a shame, to a certain degree. Buildings like the existing 6-8 BG, themselves significantly tall, are what really give a sense of scale to their newer neighbours. Seeing St. Helens dwarfed by the surrounding towers now is quite awe-inspiring. I distinctly recall that feeling in spades when I saw St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York - a cathedral-sized cathedral with dizzying spires - utterly humbled amongst the office blocks. It must be something to look up from your twentieth floor desk directly onto the crosses that cap each spire.
