S5 near Poznań is an error? It's already open.

Please delete this map, there are a lot of mistakes and it is misleading.

Why bother posting maps prepared by incompetent "journalists", when we (forumers) have our own reliable statistics and good quality maps?

S3: Niedoradz – Nowa Sol-South 17.3km (March 2016 to August 2018) [2nd c/w]
A few months of delay possible here, due to the fact that the repairs of the existing carriageway need to be more complex than originally planned

Quote:
A1: Czestochowa-Blachownia – Czestochowa-South 4.7km (July 2016 to November 2018)
A1: Wozniki – Pyrzowice (S1) 15.2km (September 2015 to November 2018)
These two sections may be completed in time, but they will probably have to wait for the two other sections to be opened (because there are no junctions)

S10: Walcz-West – Witankowo 17.8km (November 2015 to June 2018)
Unreliable contractors. There will be delays. I bet that these sections won't be completed in 2018.

S5: Poznan-West (A2) – Mosina 16.0km (August 2015 to 2018)
These two are already delayed by a few months. it is possible to finish it in 2018, but these unreliable Italian contractors can't guarantee that...

Quote:
S6: Bielice (S11) – Sianow-East 19.3km (March 2016 to July 2018)
There is a problem with undergorund water not predicted by the design. There will be a delay to 2019, but it is possible that one section will be opened in 2018.

Quote:
S5: west of Bydgoszcz-Blonie (S10) – Szubin-North 9.7km (August 2017 to October 2018)
The deadline is very short, it will be hard to build this road that fast.

S7: Lubien – Naprawa 7.6km (July 2015 to October 2018)
Deadlines are very short for such tough mountainous terrain. Possible delays.

Some projects scheduled for 2019 may be completed earlier. Maybe S6 Goleniów - Nowogard?

S7 near Nidzica is also already open. S7 also goes west of Radom, not east.

Why is "Poznań" written with smaller letters? It's the 5th largest city in PL.

There are problems with Italian construction companies in Poland? They have problems in Scandinavia as well, there is quite a lot of discussion about a major bridge project in Denmark being awarded to an Italian consortium with corruption issues (and apparent lack of experience to build a 4 km cross-sea bridge).

The problem is with companies with limited (close to none) own assets on the ground, which rely (almost) only on local subcontractors. In normal market conditions it can work if you can organize the project efficiently. Recent S8 extension in Warsaw is a good example.

But this strategy is currently undermined by unforeseen (?) market changes such as:
- sharp increase of labour costs (minimum wage increase & lack of basic workers who went abroad),
- difficulties with logistics (parallel investments on railways paralyzed transport of bulk goods, such as construction aggregates).

This, combined with non-flexible contract terms (limited possibility to increase contract prices) leads to problems.

Frankly in Poland most problems were with Austrian company (now bankrupt Alpina) and Spanish ones (although not all as some stayed for good and have great opinion) while not particularly Italian ones. Maybe it is due to fact that corruption in Polish tenders is very low and competition extremely high reducing prices to barely acceptable limits so Italians with their business model stay away

Salini left a Dogs Bollox of a job behind them in Romania on the A1

http://rai-see.org/constructor-of-de...ndal-in-italy/

Even the Italian police are investigating them and they are probably headed the way of those chancers in Alpina.

Very interesting, thanks for the post.

I hope for their sake that Salini, and such like, are not going to leave a mess behind or do a bad job. Any repair work will also have to be done under warranty, I can assure you of that.

A small number of foreign companies from Austria, Spain, Ireland and China have tried their luck with banana-republic tactics, cutting corners, not keeping to schedule, not paying subcontractors etc. They quickly found out to their detriment that you do not do that in Poland. They were told in no uncertain terms where they stand in the grand scheme of things, then kicked in the arse and told to go and f**k^ around in another country, where substandard building practices and bullying are allowed.

^ this disparaging Anglo-Saxon term has been used for procedural accuracy, foul language was not intended

That makes sense. Who cares about these border little towns especially that there is no real border anymore.
