900 Ann looks very good, simple elegance through angles and glass.

The old bakery oven/kiln inside is also being preserved. You can see it protected by timber hoarding if you look from Alfred St.

I caught myself telling a friend that this building was my favorite new building in Brisbane, simple elegance as you state Tocc but also a genuine attempt to create something different. Happy to be corrected but so far its a standout for me. And the brickwork between it and the church is very well thought out. I don't know who the architect is but a big thumbs up from me.

And a big thumbs up to Nathan for once again capturing some great photos of the area, one day I suspect they will form a record of the gentrification of the area. I do wonder what camera is used to capture them... I'm sure it cant be a smartphone from the quality.

One thing I did notice around there the other day - the Infinity dealership is looking empty! Perhaps they weren't making enough money - or do we think that site (plus perhaps Merlos) is due for redevelopment?

Interesting and look forward to seeing the design. M&A has always struggled a bit though so I hope that this is viable. People seem to balk at crossing McLachlan St from the James St precinct proper. Its one of the reasons that all the food outlets in Mosaic have failed as well although Happy Boy is doing well.

What?! This is huge! Is there a DA for it?

The 12 week-campaign would suggest something starting to happen anytime after April then?

What we do have a DA (A004826842) for, is a proposed, Nettletontribe-designed office building extension for the top of the Chinatown Carpark!!!

A little plain looking but that's okay. 17 floors ~64m

Edit: Also has rooftop pool / recreation!

While it doesn't show on the renders, there is also a document looking at methods to screen the carpark below.

I can't believe they want to keep that ratty carpark. It and the car access lanes to it have been ruining the Chinatown mall since it was created.

I can’t see another solution though given access onto Gipps St is limited. Unless everyone was either heading over the Story Bridge or to New Farm turning left from the car park on Gipps leads nowhere else. You can’t turn right, you can’t turn from Gipps onto Ann St, pretty limited really.

Exactly. Access into the site pretty well sucks!

Really is that the official goal? Or just a thought?

It's not the property owner's goal.

I cant see Secure Parking accepting anything that takes away their lucrative car parking revenue...

Do Secure Parking own the site? Do they even have a choice?
