Metra Market Development News

I think I've brought this one up before, but it seems like there is little change. Why is it that we don't hear anything about the MetraMarket project in the Ogilvie Ctr?

I've googled it and come up with virtually nothing. This thing has been sitting there for years with little going on...and it's hardly like Block 37 in the sense of it being a massive development.

Does anyone know what is happening with this project?

^ They discussed it at a Friends of Downtown meeting about 2 months ago, but I don't know if anyone from the forums went. I think it's probably still a few years off..

still in leasing stages, as far as I can tell. since it was announced, Randolph St. has cooled off as a restaurant destination and the Dominick's opened at Skybridge. still, it's an interesting idea; I just wish they'd think a little further out of the box and consider leasing spaces (even in the interim) to farmers and other small producers. the buildings and access are all already there, and the downtown farmers' markets do great business all summer.

that's pretty pathethic, isn't it. To start with, there should be no competition with the Dominick's at Skybridge, since it is the generic variety (not like the upscale new on in River East. this type of project is designed to serve the entire area (or at the very least, the whole of the downtown core). It is absolutely ridiculous that something like this should take this long to develop...especially in light of the existing Ogilvie space. Jeez, these guys didn't even have to break ground. I find it hard to believe that such a market wouldn't be destination enough for Chicagoans and tourists that it needs to be dependent on current happenings int he west loop.

Hallelujeh! This one seems to have had the wait period comparable to Block 37!

Good question... Does anyone have ANY idea what's going on and why it seems like this project has, yet again, stalled?
