So Sheffield's gonna be beating Birmingham (although isn't there a/some 5* proposed/under construction?), Leeds (city centre), Liverpool and Newcastle to having a 5*.

I don't really get that travel library site. Where do they get the ratings from? And it's not up to date either. It's doesn't have any of Sheffields newer hotels on.

While there are no 5 star hotels in Leeds City Centre, there are (what are marketed as) 6* serviced apartments at the Old Post Office and VQ.

Yes Birmingham does have a 5star hotel under construction which is going to be either a Sheraton or Hilton, and also today it has been reported that Armani are looking at a site in Birmingham to open one of their boutique hotels. The future for 5 star hotels looks very bright indeed

*Ventureast

Oh and it's spelled Brindleyplace not Brindley Place if anyone is on the verge of mispelling it.

Another for Glasgow to add to the above list, planning application was submitted on 10th August for a 10 storey hotel on Hope Street after a continental hotelier approached the developers of the former STV site. What a boom

I dont have a scooby mate, sorry, I'm sure Gleegie will get the low-down sooner or later. I'm looking forward to November and the plans for 236 Broomielaw, really nice project, 30 storey 5* hotel and 500,000 sg ft of good old grade A.

Well I would post a picture of Coventry's city centre hotels, but they are frankly awful.

The Leofric - one of the first "posh" hotels to be after the war. Incorporated into the shopping precinct.
The Britannia - Awful building by the Cathedral
Ibis - in an old cycle factory
Formula 1 - cheapy place.
Ramada - in an old 17 storey tower block.

Coming soon:

Radisson Edwardian
Travel lodge

Thanks anyway. I'm also looking forward to it, aminly because it'll be 30 stories but also because it will be designed by MAKE who have some cracking designs, like that kite Tower.

Details of the new hotel I spoke of in post 71, 198 rooms and over 300,000 sq ft of grade A office space. Also, Braehead magazine says a 4* hotel is planned at the junction leading from the M8 to the centre.

I can think of just short of 30 hotels planned or under construction in Manchester, most of which are 3/4* but with half a dozen at 4* deluxe or 5*. I won't list them all though because I don't have a clue how many rooms are in them all.
