The revised scheme looks a lot, lot better - and this might actually be really good now. It's amazing what a simple change of material can do!

Cheers Di Livio, that car park is tiny! They want to put a block of 6 storeys and a block of 11 storeys on that?

It's deceptively small becuase they may build up the Walkabout section as well as covering over the minging eyesore of the old subway system.

It's a yellow thread inspired artwork for Situation Leeds.

I Like, look at the attention it's getting from the passers by, we need more of this type of public art.

Have you got any renders of this scheme and could you show us? If not could you describe what is different in your view to make the scheme much better. I guess they would use materials which would try to match in with Walkabouts and will they be building on top of it as Di Livio suggested and do you know who will be occupying this hotel (guessing something like a Travelodge or Premier Inn) and the restaurant / bar which is meant to open on the ground floor. When is this expected to be finished for as obviously the originally proposed completion date of Summer 2008 is probably a tad too soon and would refer to the earlier application for this scheme?

See above.

It will be white rather than red, making it look lighter and more in keeping with the Civic Hall.

Why would they want to match Walkabout?

No.

I actually meant the building Walkabout is housed in of course and not the bar itself (eg: does it have similar materials to the Walkabout building). Anyway how do you know it now looks good now. Do you work for Leeds City Council?

I remember seeing that yellow string artwork. I just thought a load of creative students had done it.
Has anyone seen that subway recently? It's all been cleaned up and there is a peice of rather good looking grafitti there.

I looked at the planning application. It's publicly available.

I noticed this as well! Anyone know if there a plans to reopen the subway? this area has been cleaned up, and there are some new steps going in on the Merrion side of the road.
