Google Maps Street Level Feature-SO COOL!!

Try it out. Go to Google maps. This feature works only on certain American Cities though (including Detroit!) I guarantee you'll be hooked for at least an hour.

I don't really know what the usefulness is aside from the novelty factor

Meh, I don't really see the excitement if you live in the city - its just a crappier version of seeing the street in real life. Now Live Local's aerials...that would be something to get excited about.

Do you mean the Bird's Eye View on Microsoft Google-map-type thing? Because that is awesome.

Are you using Safari? If so, try Firefox.

Looking at most of the areas within the 'City' of Detroit is a real PR disaster for the economic development and tourist boards of the 'City' of Detroit. Never have I seen such run down n'hoods in a city in a 1st world economy.

No Google street view for Toronto, yet. Too bad. Maps.live.com has better aerial images from Toronto, and I am waiting for them to add the bird's eye view.
