Africa: Safari, Savanna, Casinos and dense Urbanity
During the last two weeks of January I and my father was on a trip in the north of South Africa and Botswana.
The first week was spent on Mabula Game Lodge, and the last was spent in Botswana, Sun City, Pretoria and Johannesburg. I will present this tread in that order, so those of you not interested in animals and nature have to wait a little while for the skyscrapers of Pretoria and Jo'burg. First up is a lot of 'common' animals found around Southern Africa, and I'll come the The Big Five later on. All pics are my own. Due to bandwith restriction I can't post a lot of pics at a time unfortunately, so there will be quite a few updates with not so many pics. Most of the time I was on Mabula we had pretty grey weather, so the pictures are not so good as they could have been, but enough excuses.. ![]() This giraffe was the first thing we encountered when we drove past the gate at Mabula. ![]() Around the main lodge the trees were filled by these nests and a lot more birds. ![]() These are Impala, a small antelope species, easily recognizable by their dark "M" over their behinds. ![]() ![]() Wart hogs was all over the place... ![]() ![]() Red Hartebeest, another species of antelope. Got their name because the shape of the horns can resemble a heart ![]() ![]() And finally a Zebra More to come in later updates. Feel free to comment
