I was curious if anyone happened to have gotten a high-quality version of the recent Channel 5 UK documentary on the Burj? I believe Cooperchris had links available but I've not found it yet via any other means. It doesn't help that I believe the link he sent to me accidently ended up in my spam box and was cleared before I realized it...

I know it's on YouTube and at a decent quality but again, just wondering. Thanks.

In the upper concrete sections, they as far as I know is the core of the building and only have elevator shaft in them. So no room for living there. Or someone explain to me exactly what's inside the upper concrete section (core) or if this core is gonna be cladded, not much space between glass and outer wall of the core and this space could be used for observation?

At tier 27 (top cladding floors) only thing to get there is by ladder inside the spire. Does this mean men can't get to tier 27 around the spire?

(first level of tier 19, meaning steel stair case starts)

I was right about roughly 40 more levels to go.

According to this diagram we're at level 163 (not floor 160 mezz 3) and the highest level is 205. so 42 more levels to go

Hey buildmilehightower, please don't repost the old big diagrams A link is enough, like here to Culwulla's recent one from April 14th, which has the same two level numberings.

Lev 160 mezz 3 is the official one, I think, so I would stick to it. Below there are also mezzanines and skipped levels, so it's rather complicated. So if we just count the levels one by one, do we get up to 205, Culwulla? Then the red figures to the left are only a simplification.

I've recorded the construction of Burj Dubai from National Geographic. It shows what is special about concrete and how it keeps it cool in hot humid weather of Dubai. Did you know they use shredded ice to keep it cool so it won't solidify that quickly?

Another diagram which I made a few minutes ago. Includes 2 destroyed structures. I think its interesting and gives a nice perspective. Even that Burj Dubai on that diagram has "only" 807m it looks impressive :-)

Compared burj to chicago spire. Burj looks so much taller even with similar height, dunno why.

chicago spire (609.6metres) :

burj dubai (at 611.3, not much difference) :

Hi Miliux.

Thank you for recording that for us all. I had seen that National Geographic was going to have a program on the Burj and hoped someone would record it as I don't get that channel.

you can't compare a render with a real shot, that's a big difference

I was just thinking. The Maintenance Man that works in this Building when it's finished; is going to have to walk all those stairs from Level 162 to Level 205 from time to time. They better make sure he's in great shape when they hire.

No, you're wrong. The real reason is becuase that rendering of Chicago Spire is significantly undersized. In fact pretty much all if not all of the renderings that have been released of CS have shown it shorter than it will actually be. Most likely they did this to not make the neighbors and nervous during the approval process.

True, you also have to consider that the image size is different and also make a difference!

Burj image been 1600pixels tall, Chicago Spire image been 437pixels tall!
