We certainly cannot expect better trains from ŽSR, but we can from ŽSSK. Just check this my post: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=304 There should be bought suburban doubledecker carriages and also "interregional" carriages from EU money.

don't know if this has been discussed here, but are there plans to connect Vienna Airport with Bratislava using a direct train service? Since most people are probably traveling into West Slovakia/Bratislava region through that airport (for now at least), there should be quite a lot of demand for such a train service I guess.

Slovak railways started public competition for the construction company which would modernize railway Nové Mesto nad Váhom - Zlatovce (part of the city of Trenčín), its cost is estimated on SKK 8,887 billion (EUR 275,75 million) without VAT. This section is part of the moderinzation project of railway Nové Mesto nad Váhom - Púchov on speed 160 km/h. There will be the tunnel mentioned few pages above. |
