Sa May 15 na po ang Pahiyas Festival sa Lucban, Quezon.

Heto po ang detailed direction papuntang Lucban, Quezon coming from Manila:

Option 1: Sta. Cruz-Pagsanjan Route

Private Vehicles:

Take the South Super Highway (aka South Luzon Expressway)

From SLEX:

1. Take Calamba exit, drive towards Calamba city proper then turn right at the junction.

2. Head straight on the highway passing by Los Banos, Bay, Victoria, Pila, Sta. Cruz and Pagsanjan.

3. Once you get to Pagsanjan Church, turn right (Pagsanjan Town Hall) going to Cavinti then Luisiana(last town in Laguna). Head straight again towards Lucban, Quezon.

For Commuters:

Take the Sta. Cruz-headed buses either in Buendia or Cubao and get off at Pagsawitan, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. There you will find jeepneys bound for Lucban.

Option 2: San Pablo City-Lucena-Tayabas(Longer Route)

From SLEX:

Take Exit 50A(Batangas-Lucena Exit)

Simply drive along this national road until you reach the Sto. Tomas junction. Sto. Tomas has two junctions, on both juctions, take the road to the left (southeastward) toward Lucena. This will take you through Alaminos then San Pablo Laguna. At San Pablo junction, just follow the highway, veering to the right and bypassing the city. Do not enter San Pablo proper. Next town after San Pablo would be Tiaong., then Candelaria, Sariaya and Tayabas. Take the junction at the left going to Tayabas town proper (right goes to Lucena City). At Tayabas, drive towards Lucban which is approximately 13 kilometers from Tayabas.

For Commuters:

1.Take the Lucena-headed buses found either in Buendia or Cubao. Get off at the Grand Central Terminal in Lucena and ride a jeep to Lucban. Lucban is approximately 24 kilometers from Lucena City.

there's also this road to lucban via mahayhay, i think it's least traversed po, lesser po ang traffic, just be aware lang po that there's a bridge still under construction between mahayhay and lucban

Camalig braces for 'Pinangat Festival'

CAMALIG, Albay-- The local government of Camalig through the Municipal Tourism Council (MTC) in cooperation with the Sangguniang Bayan members is all set for this year’s celebration of the Pinangat Festival which is slated on June 10–24, 2008. Mayor Carlos Baldo said the Pinangat Festival features various sports, cultural and religious activities. Pinangat is a local delicacy which is very popular not only in this town but also among Filipinos overseas for it's pungent, nutritious and medicinal benefits.

"The highlights of this year’s activity are the Street presentation, Pinangat eating and cooking contest, Drum and Lyre competition, Pasagugurang sa Park and the Legend of Pinangat stage play," Baldo said. The tourism council has planned more participative events and nightly shows for public viewing like the Bicol songs concerts, sing and dance contests, battle of the bands, ballroom dancing, acrobatic shows, boxing tournament and a lot more.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be in support to the slew of events by conducting Agri-Trade and Job Fairs to unemployed residents of this town. The said festivity depicts the native food delicacy of the Camaligueños which is Pinangat where the town is famous for.

Fil-Am energy expert to develop wind, solar project in Aurora —philstar.com

share ko lang dito ang balita para sa Aurora ...

Fil-Am energy expert to develop wind, solar project in Aurora

By Manny Galvez

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

BALER, Aurora – A Filipino-American energy expert has been tapped to lead the way in the launch of renewable energy projects in the province, including solar and wind farms.

Sen. Edgardo Angara told The STAR that engineer Larry Asera will help the provincial government in setting up wind, solar and hydro power projects in the province.

Angara said that Asera, a graduate of the University of California in Berkely and the Massachussets Institute of Technology, has already done some preliminary studies on the potentials of renewable energy projects in the province.

Asera, accompanied by Benjamin Mina, the provincial environment and natural resources officer, flew by helicopter to Casiguran town in northern Aurora for an aerial inspection of possible sites for solar and wind farms.

Following the inspection, Asera told Mina that an initial three hectares of solar farm can be developed in Barangay Esteves, Casiguran with a capacity of three megawatts.

The Fil-Am energy expert also discussed the prospects of renewable energy with Agripino Teh San, general manager of the Aurora Electric Cooperative (Aurelco) and technical director Noel Vidat.

Asera’s visit came after Angara toured his sprawling house in California to see his wind farm and one-hectare solar farm which supplies the energy requirements of the City of Vallejo. He used to work in Cotabato and in parts of Mindanao. His grandparents migrated to Hawaii. He later married a Filipina from Abra.

Asera owns 22,000 acres of lands in Napa Valley, considered a wine country and in Vallejo. He also built and now operates 25 wind turbines in the area with a power-generating capacity of 1.8 megawatts each. Each turbine costs $1.5 million. With 25 turbines, these cost a whopping P1.5 billion.

Following the visit, the senator invited the Fil-Am to visit the province where they toured the Dicasalarin Cove in Baler town which, Angara said, would be turned into laboratory for renewable energy so that the entire energy source in the province is not fuel and gas but renewable energy.

Angara principally sponsored the Renewable Energy Bill in the Senate, considered a ground-breaking piece of legislation aimed to make the country less dependent on fossil fuel but more on biomass which is abundant in the country.

The Baler senator said that Asera who is also helping Puerto Princesa City in setting up its own solar systems, will enable the province of Aurora to be the first provincial local government unit in the country to develop clean and sustainable energy technology.
