Based on looks or flight comfort?

When it comes to the looks I'm a fan of three engine jets

Lockheed L-1011 Tristar

McDonnell-Douglas MD-11

When it comes to the flight comfort I prefer the B777

The bigger, the better.

My favourites are A380, B747 & B777,

I always check the plane type before flying so that I pick the airline which runs bigger planes.

I love the 747 - it does not look like an elephant has a unique class and elegance about it.

My favorites are the DC-9 family of aircraft and the Boeing 727 because they have "Airstairs" that open at the tail of the aircraft:

If you bring your own parachute, you can get out of the aircraft while it is in flight. That's the way D.B. Cooper got out of the Northwest Orient 727 that he hijacked in 1971:

Most recent airplane types look like either 737s or DC-9s. They might be bigger or smaller, but they look very similar from a distance:

Early Boeing 737 (737-200)

Later Boeing 737 (737-500)

Boeing 757

Boeing 767

Boeing 777

Airbus A300

Airbus A320

Airbus A330

Embraer 175

Embraer 195

The 787, A350, and Bombardier C130 will also have profiles similar to the 737.

McDonnell Douglas DC-9 (Boeing 717 is very similar.)

McDonnell Douglas MD-80 and MD-90 Series

Canadair/Bombardier CRJ200

Canadair/Bombardier CRJ700

Canadair/Bombardier CRJ900

Embraer ERJ 140

Fokker 70

Fokker 100

BAC 111

Two engine jets have come to dominate the market. Hanging the engines from the wings seems to be the most common arrangement but hanging the engines from the tail remains popular.

The most comfortable is B777 - hands down. Very smooth and has a perfect sound isolation. Long range, pretty decent capacity and still has only 2 engines - a masterpiece!

When it comes to aesthetics, I like the good old Tu-154. Not only looks, it is superb in climbing rate too, and those engines sound... mmm... When I was a child, flying Tu-154 was fun because you raise above the clouds in no time

Reverse thrust

Too bad Tu-154 sucks in fuel economy and is too loud for new European noise restrictions. It is not profitable to fly anymore.
