But I would bet they're going around 65-70, next time I will pace behind them and check. It's just that I usually travel down the interstates at around 85-90 (if I'm in the van) and I don't feel like I pass by them very quickly, maybe it's because they're so long

That photo is weird... It seems like there is a divider(concrete/New Jersey style) missing in the middle! And that truck is just a prototype.

American ones look maybe stronger and bigger because they making longer distances ! european ones don't, and also, like someone said, european streets can be smaller sometimes, so easier for those trucks to pass in little villages and cities... also now, we put trucks on rails (channel tunnel, in switzerland, italy and so on), so maybe it will never be a necessity in near future to make the room of the employee bigger for him having more stuffs (american employees do make their truck room (where they sleep) a true house in comparaison ! its their second home !) ...
I think they are both good for the environnement where they work. In russia, it's american versions that can be advantaged (long distances) but in India, european ones (short distances and little streets and so on). |

Here in México you can see both American and European trucks. But i think that the European ones have a better design more futuristic, aslo arent this huge things they dont have anything they dont need
But i like modern American trucks the classic are shit cuz they have too much stuff and ornaments it is like barroque trucks. |

Driving the American ones in dense cities must be a nightmare... therefor I'll go with the European style...
On the highway however I like both just fine ( or hate them equally depending on how many there are and how much they are slowing down traffic )

I go for the European ones.
My preference was American when I was a child, I loved that nose (there was a TV serie about truck drivers, the big Mack , but I cannot remember the name). But, nowadays, I see, both American trucks and American cars, as "the bigger it is, the best it is", and I cannot agree with that. I think the design is much more important.

I'll go for the European ones. I really like the Magnum from Renault and the new XF105 from Daf. I saw a Daf XF105 driving on a American Higway in a commercial. I believe that was because of the fact that Daf is part of the American PACCAR group which include Peterbilt and Kenworth...
![]() Are theire no European trucks imported in the United States???

I believe Volvo does...
![]() But the roads are generally dominated by American brands... to be slightly stereotypical, I think people in the trucking industry are very patriotic and stick to American built trucks. Like Freightliner: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() or Peterbilt: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() or Kenworth: ![]() Then of course, there is always this thing... Hummer what?

I really like the Volvo Transport Trucks, and I do see A LOT of them on the highways. I'm not sure if I've ever seen any other European Trucks on the Highways in Canada but from these pictures I think they look a lot nicer.

i personally say European.
but in the end, this is a typical American vs European debate. same goes comparing a Harley Davidson with a Vespa, or a Cadillac with a Citroen, or a Hamburger diet with a greek-salad one, Americans like everything big and showy, not a care in the world, while us modest europeans are more elegant and stylish. .
