Bolivian Landscapes - Dali's Desert & the Salar de Uyuni & more!!

The nicknamed "Salvador Dali" desert in Southwest Bolivia (Potosi). Only recently has the beauty of this forgotten region been rediscovered by international tourists who were awed at its moon-like landscapes and unrivaled isolation. At approximately 4,000 meters above sea level, Southwest Bolivia offers one of the crispest night skies where infinite stars are seen nightly. It is also from this region where Spain became a world power - when a mountain made of enough silver to build a bridge between Bolivia and Madrid was found and funded much of Spanish Empire for hundreds of years. It is for this reason that in Spain the term "Vale un Potosi" means "it is worth a fortune!".

The tree of rock in Dali's Desert:

Laguna Siloli (Potosi) with rare James flamingoes:

The Salar de Uyuni with volcanos in the distance (Potosi):

When it rains, only a couple centimeters of rain are needed to create the world's biggest natural mirror!!

Uyuni in the morning:

Isla de Pescadores (Fisherman's Island) in the midle of the Salar de Uyuni:

Laguna Verde in front of the Volcan Licancabur:

Laguna Colorado (Potosi):

Volcan Tunupa (north of the Salar de Uyuni):

Panoramas of Southwestern Bolivia (Potosi):

El Sillar - Tupiza, Potosi, Bolivia:

Nevado Sajama - Bolivia's highest peak (Oruro):

Abandoned church at 4,000 meters in front of Sajama:

Llamas taking a rest in the surreal landscape:

The Island of the Sun at Lake Titicaca (La Paz) - This is where the Incan creation myth places the birth of their race:

Tiwanaku Ruins - a mysterious pre Incan civilization (La Paz):

Valley of the Moon (La Paz):

The Andes Mountains behind Mount Tunari (Cochabamba):

Valley of Cochabamba - the transition areas between the cold altiplano and the humid tropical amazon of Bolivia's East:

Lake Corani (Cochabamba):

Laguna Wara Wara en la noche (Cochabamba):

Mount Illampu over the sleepy town of Sorata (La Paz):

Grape fields for wines in Tarija (Southern Bolivia) Tarija is Bolivia's Gas Capital where most of the huge gas megafields were found in the last decade. These fields provide energy for such cities as Sao Paolo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The road from Tarija to Argentina:

Lake Poopo in Oruro (This is where Jim Allen says Atlantis may be found):

Mount San Miguel in Southeast Bolivia (Santa Cruz frontera con Paraguay):

The World's Most Danger Road from La Paz to the Yungas (Amazonas):
Every year dozens of people die when their buses fall of these steep cliffs:

Maragua Crater (Chuquisaca):

An odd crater about 8 kilometers wide. Nearby they found several dinosaur fossils as well as footprints of brontosaurus and other huge dinosaurs.

The valley of the dinosaurs in Chuquisaca (Sucre):

Lake Tumichucua in El Beni (Eastern Amazonian Bolivia):

Chiquitos (Santa Cruz) Eastern Bolivia:

Rolling forests in Santo Corazon (Santa Cruz):

Saltflats of San Jose (Santa Cruz) - even in Bolivia's East there are huge salt deposits.

Noel Kempff National Park - Nearby is the mountain called El Mutun - which is one of the world's biggest deposits of iron. An Indian company recently won a contract to invest 2 billion USD in order to mine, extract and process this iron:

Madidi Park in the Bolivian Amazon.

Samaipata, Santa Cruz:

Any questions you might have about Bolivia or these photos' locations don't hesitate to send me a message!

travel on holidays

Spain is a worhty visited country in the world. I have been to there for quite a few times on travel. I think once you're in Spain, you can't miss costa del sol where you can enjoy a comfortable sunbath and menorca spain. While in summer you can go to car hire in barcelona, it is the summer resort. I love them all. People there are mostly friendly and hospitable and you won't be worried about anything in your travel. Hope everyone travel to Spain have a good time there!
