It means that there is a chip in the passport booklet that stores information on unique physical aspects of the person to whom its was issued, such as fingerprints, retina scans, etc, that can more easily prove to the border guards that it is indeed real (not counterfeit) and belongs to the person whom is presenting it. It is to improve border security.

The USA is planning to go that way, too, but since I live so far from a useful border crossing and have no immediate plans to cross it, I don't hold one and don't know if they are being issued here yet or not.

Biometric passports, the best way to control us all! Here's a Slovenian one, I didn't find any without Italian, and no smaller either.

Biometric passport was introduced in 15 August 2006 and my passport is slated for a new one soon which means a bio metric passport for me soon.

Front Cover

Also I was wondering why Singapore did not adopt it back in the 1998s considering that we are so closed to the creator of Biometric passport, Malaysia.

Albania should have both the new biometric passports and biometric ID cards ready by this coming spring, right in time for the summer elections. French firm Sagem Securite won the tender to produce them although for bureaucratic reasons it took longer than it should have.

USA passports are good for ten years from the date of issue.

^ We introduced it so we can still go to the US without visa. I wonder, if I can go to the US without visa too, considering I don't have a biometric passport yet, but an ordinary one.

The new US passport is biometric. If you get a new one today, you are getting the biometric.

This is the real UK British National passport, not the British National (Oversea). A BN(O) looks exactly the same on the cover, but doesn't have EU on the top. In reality, BN(O) is still a Chinese National, to be protected by the Chinese consulate/embassy in a foreign soil. So what the heck, just get the cheaper and better HKSAR passport.

Can't find any image of it! Unless I scan mine but I don't have a scanner.

I'm planning of changing mine to the SAR passport. Anyway, does that make me Chinese national even if I'm not Chinese?
