Barcelona is kinda exception. Ronda Litoral is passing just next to the coast and is part of ring

That's what makes Sydney's orbital motorway so weird, in my opinion. In the 1950s, there were plans to build seven radial motorways between the CBD and the outer suburbs, but no plans for any orbital routes - not freeway standard ones, anyway. The policy changed in the 1970s to favour ring roads and most of the gazetted freeway reservations were sold off, and only in the past few years they've patched together an orbital route from bits and pieces of unfinished radial roads, meaning that even though the Sydney orbital is a complete loop, its eastern end passes right next to the CBD.

Riga - 60,7 km. (but it isn't a full ring road, it's more like a bypass)

Beijing 6 Ring Road, which blows everything listed out of the water. I can't trace it on Google Maps as it was just recently completed.

Not really.

It's 188 kilometers long, and there are several longer beltways listed. It is among the longest though.

Maybe you're talking about the 7th Ring Road? It's only a far away plan though, but it's planned to be over 400 kilometers.

Some ringroads are less clear though, for instance, they're building the A19 in France south of Paris, which would form some kind of ringroad of hundreds of kilometers around Paris, though it's clear it will never function as such.

Toronto doesn't really have an actual ring, but there is a system of 4 highways which roughly forms a ring around the city (except that the 401 is actually somewhat south of what the actual northern border of the city is).

The ring is formed (starting in the northeastern corner) by following the following highways (counter-clockwise): Highway 401 -> Highway 427 -> Gardiner Expressway -> Don Valley Parkway. The Don Valley Parkway continues as highway 404 north of the 401.

The total length according to Google Maps is about 63 km.

To see the map, click here.

At some point I plan to make a video of driving the whole ring

Perth ring road - 94 km (never heard it described as a ring road, but State Routes 2 and 3 do form a complete loop, even though route 3 isn't freeway standard all the way)

No other Australian city has anything resembling a ring road, unless you want to count the two-kilometre State Circle around Parliament House in Canberra.
Brisbane has two thirds of a complete ring road made up of the Logan and Gateway Motorways with the huge Gateway Bridge across the Brisbane River. When it was built, this was the largest concrete box girder bridge in the world. It now carries about 100,000 vehicles per day. The whole ring road is used by over 200,000 vpd.

There are plans to complete the ring road with a western bypass, but there are severe political issues and problems in relation to very severe topography

http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?hl...a3ec2760fc09fd

Currently, the Gateway and Logan Motorways are 63.8Km, with the eastern option for the western bypass, the ring road would be 103.9Km. With the western option, it would be 185Km long.

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks. I was going to give Brisbane a mention, but decided against it since the Gateway Motorway serves more as a bypass than a ring road.

Nah, those Autobahns happen to be around a city, but were not constructed to function like a ringroad.

In Portugal:

Lisbon has not a real ring road. There are plans to built a ring road (aprox. 80km) but the high cost of the construction, specially because the construction of a new bridge or tunnel (remember that a 3rd 13km lenght bridge will begin the works soon), has stoped the plans.

However, Lisbon as 3 main bypass motorways.

Lisbon CREL (exterior bypass): 36,4km
Lisbon CRIL (interior bypass): 20km
Lisbon 2ª Circular (interior bypass 2): aprox. 14km

In the north of the country, Porto stands as the second more important city of Portugal. There is a completed ring road and a second one under construction.

Porto-Gaia ring freeway: 29,5km
Porto Metropolitan ring motorway (underconstruction): aprx. 70km
