The Transera www.thetransera.com which is going to be built two blocks south of Landmark on the Lake and the new St. John's Senior Residence Tower which is going to be built two blocks north of Landmark on the Lake as well as the twin apartment towers that are proposed on the northeast and southeast corner of Kilbourn Avenue and Van Buren Streets will probably end up in the Top 25 on the list.

Does anyone else find emporis to be inaccurate at times? I'm not saying that those numbers are wrong. I just think that often times I see buildings that appear to me to have higher floor counts, but are listed with slightly fewer. (e.g. emporis lists 8 floors, when I count 9.)

This is sometimes the case when the building sits on a hill. From one side, the building may only have 8 floors exposed, while from the other side all 9 could be exposed. Some buildings may also have utility floors, or very tall lobbies which give a different appearance from the outside.

I agree with you about the exposed floors in a building. I wasn't all that surprised when I saw that Landmark on the Lake was #26. On that page they say the building is actually built at least 100 feet down into the bluff and the height actually beginning at the top of the bluff. That is why they are lower on the list.

Also for the record, the twin 20 story buildings planned at Kilbourn and Van Buren are listed as 700/711 Kilbourn with no official name as of yet.

Where are Park Place 1 and Park Place 2 on that list (or are they below #100)?

Or how about the twin towers at Mayfair? Or Froedtert's expansion?

A list is a little dry without some pics:

1. U.S. Bank Center (formerly Firstar Center, back in the good 'ole days)

3. University Club Tower

4. Milwaukee Center

10. Chase Tower

27. Cathedral Place

Pics from my little website (which I will get around to updating sometime, probably Thursday) www.buildingsmilwaukee.com

The Mayfair towers are not in Milwaukee.

BTW, the US Bank Center was originally the First Wisconsin Bank building.

That list is incomplete. For instance: it is missing the downtown Hyatt, which is one of the taller buildings in West Town. (or is it Westown?) I think the reason is that Emporis does not have height information for several buildings, and as such, they are listed farther down the list. That could be why the flashcube buildings, (Park Place #1 and #2, which I think are both 14 stories) are not listed either.

Froedtert, or more specifically, Children's Hospital is not on the list because it is in Wauwatosa.

Neither of those are in Milwaukee. They're in Wauwatosa.

Good list.

Even with all the new buildings coming up though, Milwaukee' skyline is rather modest as compared with many other cities. Which really isn't such a bad thing.
