Armenia and it's capital Yerevan
Let me introduce you Armenia.
Mostly the pictures will be taken from other sources and will be credited. Just a short historical remark Armenia lies in the highlands surrounding the Biblical mountains of Ararat, upon which, according to Judeo-Christian history, Noah's Ark came to rest after the flood. In the Bronze Age, several states flourished in the area of Greater Armenia, including the Hittite Empire (at the height of its power), Mitanni (South-Western historical Armenia), and Hayasa-Azzi (1500-1200 BC). Then, the Nairi people (twelfth to ninth centuries BC) and the Kingdom of Urartu (1000-600 BC) successively established their sovereignty over the Armenian Highland. Each of the aforementioned nations and tribes participated in the ethnogenesis of the Armenian people. Yerevan, the modern capital of Armenia, was founded in 782 BC by the Urartian king Argishti I. ![]() images are taken from Wikipedia Last edited by Edlaut; February 5th, 2009 at 09:29 AM. |

We start with Republic Square which is located in the center of Yerevan. The square has a stone pattern in the center, meant to look like a traditional Armenian rug from above. The square has a large fountain in front of the National Art Gallery and History Museum, it has the Marriot Hotel, the Foreign Ministry, a post office and other establishments around it.
This is the top view of the square ![]() and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ![]() credit for this image goes to my friend Manvel Tadevosyan Last edited by Edlaut; February 5th, 2009 at 09:30 AM. |
