As you could see from other pics I've posted, I credit the pic taker if I know they supplied them. Great pics btw. Quote:
The rugby codes will use it during winter and soccer over the summer as the respective seasons don't currently overlap. The Asian Champions League (soccer) hold their group stages during winter and they're played midweek.

You may be right.
There will be two more A-League teams this season which means more rounds and an possibly an earlier start to the season.

I havent heard about a super15 franchise for Melbourne in a while, even though I think it would do a whole lot better than the storm. You know of any news about that? If Melbourne does get a team I cant see it playing anywhere but this stadium. I guess they would play alternate weekends or have A league games on lets say a Friday, and Super 15 games on a Sunday. It will be quite a busy stadium with the second A league team and a union team. |

This rectangular stadium is built with foundations to allow for future expansion to 50,000. How is it going to be expanded to that capacity without destroying the roof covering?

So many private schools play union in melb that Im sure there will be a lot of support for the team. They get decent crowds to internationals and thats with what seems like zero media exposure. The super 14 season is so short and is timed pretty well during the A league finals series and gap between the A league and NRL seasons, there shouldnt be too many clashes. |

I guess they would have to dismantle the roof, take it off and add another tier. Pretty costly, but its done all over the world during stadium expansions.

Well, we have to put the roof back after the stadium gets expanded, whenever that will be.

What should happen with the rugby is:
1. add Melbourne 2. ditch South Africa 3. have 7 sides out of NZ 4. play a 22 match season from March to September. |

MELBOURNE -Melbourne Rectangular Stadium (31,500)
New home of the Melbourne Storm Rugby League team
![]() The Melbourne Rectangular Stadium is a outdoor sports stadium currently under construction on Olympic Boulevard in inner Melbourne, Australia. Once completed, it will play host to Melbourne Storm (NRL) home games, aiming to fill in the gap in the city's sporting infrastructure for a state of the art, purpose built rectangular stadium ideal for rugby league/union. In line with most Australian cities, Melbourne's largest stadiums (the MCG and the Docklands Stadium) have oval fields best suited to Australian rules football and cricket, though they have both been used for soccer and rugby many times. The new stadium will feature a distinctive "Bioframe" design, with a geodesic dome roof covering much of the seating area, whilst still allowing light through to the pitch capacity - 31,500 ![]() ![]()
