They've done London, LA and Vegas - and now the Hustle crew are taking on... Birmingham.

In a shakeup for series six - which films this summer and airs early 2010 - Mickey and co. will be moving to England's second city.

This weekend I caught up with the legendary Robert Vaughn at the Memorabilia convention in Brum, where he spilled the beans on the relocation. "I found out last night that all six shows are going to be done in Birmingham," he told me. "I think this is the first time Birmingham has ever had a top-notch show film here." (Clearly Mr Vaughn isn't a fan of Doctors!)

He added: "Apart from this convention, one of my other responsibilities coming here is my wife said 'you've got to find out where I'm going to live!' So tonight after the signings I'm going down to the Rotunda in the Bullring, which is apparently the best place for apartment-type living."

Now that will be very very interesting to see. However, I fear it'll just be the normal locations that will be used for this - Brindleyplace, Bull Ring and everywhere inbetween.

i think rotunda will be used...it makes sense maybe mailbox but the views out of the apartments are not great

No shit, but it would be nice to see some very obscure and unusual locations used once in a while. The potential other areas of Birmingham have for filming locations is constantly being undermined by the convenience of the typical locations that we see. It's almost becoming cliche to use the Selfridges building or The Rotunda in a Birmingham-based production.

True, but you cant deny how those images do help to change peoples immediate perceptions of the city. The rich landscape of Birmingham and the wider Midlands should work alongside these magnet attractions in bringing a variety of other scenescapes to contrast with these main images.

I think the obscure would look even more cool contrasted with a nice new image of Birmingham to highlight the rich mix of development and change.

With this news and Watchdog coming on it's tour plus Survivors and us keeping Doctors it's all looking rather good for Birmingham at the moment

Or they could use the penthouses at Holloway Circus - I don't think they're sold yet, and doubt they will be soon. Especially given the fancy designs and gadgets that are built in there.

Or the one at Orion - which would be ironic given that Crosby pulled off the biggest scam there with their original renders for the building

Will they actually set Robert Vaughans thing in Brum, or will it be filmed in Brum and set in Leeds or somewhere else like Dalziel and Pascoe....

Gardeners World new base, Survivors and now hustle Hopefully, this will change the perceptions of many people who have never seen Birmingham.

Unfortunatly, there are many who feel Brum is still a 1960s concrete jungle that doesn't deserve to be screened

No definite confirmation but the insider source suggests Birmingham most likely. So in space of a few months we'd have Hustle and Survivors being filmed in the city.

After shooting in London, Las Vegas and Hollywood, the hit television series Hustle is set to be filmed in Birmingham.

The BBC1 drama about a gang of con artists is on the move and is said to be heading for the city.

One of its stars, legendary actor Robert Vaughn, is already packing his bags and looking for a new temporary home in the city. When he came to the Memorabilia Show at the National Exhibition Centre to meet fans last weekend, he revealed he was combining his visit with a spot of house-hunting.

Vaughn, star of The Magnificent Seven and The Man from UNCLE, said: “I found out that all six shows of the new series are going to be done in Birmingham.

“Apart from this convention, one of my other responsibilities in coming here is a directive from my wife, who said ‘you’ve got to find out where I’m going to live!’. After the signings I’m going down to the Rotunda in the Bullring, which is apparently the best place for apartment-type living.”

Vaughn, who plays veteran con man Albert Stroller in Hustle, jumped the gun with his revelation, as the official line is that no firm decision has yet been taken on where the sixth series will be filmed.

But an insider says that, although all the details have not been finalised, it looks likely that Birmingham will be the new location. Filming is due to take place this summer, with a screening in early 2010.
