Really?...what year was this established?... I remember the oldest private hospitals in WV were in Iloilo. St.Paul Hospital and Iloilo Mission Hospital both opened in the early 1900's. Im not sure exactly when but I think Iloilo Mission Hospital was in 1901 (?) and St. Paul Hospital in 1902 (?)......

according to 1 of the doctors there. It was established a year after WW2.
Iloilo Mission and St. Paul Hospitals are private? If they are private hospitals, then my source is wrong. Stand corrected.

Sadly, they're still there but the mayor promised the city will be squatters free by 2010. (I hope).

Thanks...enjoy your stay in BKK. I didn't join the exodus , dito lang sa Subic...

Why wait for 2010? Si Binay talaga, after all those years the city government has protected these squatters near MMC, palalayasin pa sa 2010 - kasi tatakbo siya for President? papogi points.

Sacred Heart Hospital
Cebu City

di pala the oldest in Visayas and Mindanao but the first tertiary private hospital in Visayas and Mindanao. And far better compared to the Big 3 hospitals in Cebu during the 50's, 60's, 70's and even 80's.

Hospital spruce up seen
as Bicol HLK wellness center

LEGAZPI CITY ---- The newly spruced Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) is set to accept patients to undergo heart, lungs and kidney operation, an official of the hospital said yesterday.

Dr. Rogelio Rivera, BRTTH chief said the hospital is now equipped with state of the art medical equipments and operating rooms for open heart surgery, including kidney and lung operations.

Albay Gov. Joey Salceda at the inaugural and blessing rites of the newly refurbished hospital on Wednesday said some P530 million from Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s Bicol-Calamity Assistance Relief Emergency (B-CARE) was infused to rehabilitate and upgrade the facilities of the hospital.

Salceda said he saw to it that the funds was available when he was then the chairman of the house appropriation committee.

The tertiary hospital was heavily damaged when super typhoons Milenyo and Reming struck the province in 2006 destroying several public infrastructures.

The funds was used to buy some P380 million in hospital equipments, P70 million to rehabilitate the hospital edifice, P80 million for maintenance and operating including capital outlay.

Rivera said the new BRTTH will be a heart, lungs and kidney wellness center in the region because of the state of the art equipments such as heart, kidney and lungs laboratories, operating rooms.

He said they have also set up Heart, Lungs and Kidney (HLK) network linking the hospital with the Philippine Heart Center, Kidney and Lung Centers in Metro Manila and Cebu.

The BRTTH, a tertiary government hospital seats in a 4 hectares lot in this city, with 250 bed capacity, private rooms, a public and PhilHealth ward.

Rivera said by next year it will build additional two heart operating rooms, private wards, another isolation ward, cancer diagnostic center, and a commercial complex to make the hospital income generating establishment.

Rivera said the hospital would have to raise some P80 million to establish a cancer unit next year.

Salceda at his inaugural speech said his administration is embarking on health and education as his priority programs saying that 24 percent of the province budget goes to health services.

He believes that there are more positive impact by investing in health and education rather that spending funds for infrastructure.

“Physical infrastructure are destroyed once natural or man-made disaster strikes but the best use of our money is to invest in human capital formation which is health and education services,” he said.

Salceda announced that a Legazpi City Hospital will soon rise next year, this wellness center would cater to the medical needs of residents in the second district of the province.

He said P150 million fund would be sourced from the province with P50 million, the city will share P50 million and another P50 million will come from Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
