never see or never want to know? they are many!

why shame on colonial architecture? they are part of our history....even our World's Heritage Sites are also colonial architecture...

people may ask, why no malay architecture being declared as world heritage? bcoz it was made using timber and they are no longer exist! oh yeah, there are one oldest surviving malay structure, a mosque. but it is in Indonesia!

Our current Istana are dated from the turn of the century if I could recall. Anyway those pro-new-istana ppl argued that it is inappropriate for our DYMM Agong to inhabit in a house meant for a rich tycoon. Well consider the fact that Buckingham Palace used to be a townhouse for a Duke, why not eh?

Anyway our Istana had numerous upgrades and it looks nothing like the rich man's house of the yesteryear. Just like how Buckingham Palace was enlarged to its present size. The Balairongseri is a new addition to the Istana in the 80s with an entirely new wing.

I guess the Agong doesn't care much about the new palace as we don't have any "permanent" Agong instead of rotation. I believe someone else are more excited to build the new palace.

Surprisingly I don't see much of Malay elements other than the wood panels attached to the top of the pillars
