True, but perhaps if this is a rousing success, the city will see the wisdom in relocating the firehouse and at least half the block will open up. :-)
It would be great for the Murat to have nightspots facing it on Michigan and New Jersey. It would be great to see this Barton development spur something in the huge lot next to the Davlan. Mass Ave's doing pretty good for a street littered with parking lots. I'd say they front 50% of the avenue. Check it out on Google Maps. There's so much room for new buildings.

There is a performing arts center planned for the SE corner of College/Mass, directly across from The Beilouny. That should help.
The biggest problem I see with that area is the lot surrounded by cottages across from the fireman's ballroom building (that's not its real name, which escapes me at the moment). It's in Chatham Arch, which is home to some of the biggest NIMBYs downtown. They probably wouldn't support anything but little homes with bigger yards.
