Downtown Buffalo in the 1970s and early 1980s still has a LOT of life, but it felt like it was in an extended period of deferred maintenance that started around 1930. There were some shiny new buildings, but the contrast between them and the largely ignored grime- and soot-covered prewar structures that surrounded them was jarring. Plenty of litter, too, and a LOT of Class C office space, and even Class D if it could be called that.
Still would love to see Kodachrome photos of Buffalo from the 1980s and earlier, though. Sure, it's allright to get all weepy whenever one hears the Sattler's 998 jingle, but nostalgia for Buffalo shouldn't be ignored for the years after 1955.
