Houston's not among the prettiest of places.
But as these fine pictures show, little by little, decade by decade, the biggest city in Texas is becoming more urban. |

very beautiful photos!!!!!!!! i've been to houston and thought it was quite ugly, there is too much poverty and ugly neighbourhoods, but there is also nice places. i loved the galleria. i think houston is not the nicest city texas has, in my opinion Austin takes that title. i visit texas very often since i live right across the border, and it is such a lovely country of its own, but there is more to texas than houston.

houston is extremely urban there just isnt much high rise density. lots of low rise buildings which are more cost effective.

Just moved here a couple months ago from the Seattle area. Nice pictures, but it's a horrible city. I only like the Galleria area.
I have never seen such poverty in my life. Under the bridges in the downtown area, there are 120 year old buildings with paint chipping and missing shingles. A mile away, there are skyscrapers with businessmen earning billions. That's something not seen in Seattle, at least not to that degree. |

It looks like a nice park. I have actually not seen a single park while I've been here. Are there a lot of little neighborhood parks or what?
I think this area has a lot of potential in every way, but it feels like everything was rushed and not planned very well, especially the Katy area. There's absolutely no infrastructure. Huge roads, highways, and homes. That's it. There should be more parks, sidewalks(almost non-existent), and public transportation. Like I said, the area has a lot of potential, and it's sad to just see pockets of this city flourishing while other areas are not getting any new developments whatsoever. |
