Lugano scrapped it's trolleybus system. Why? The trolleybus is ecological, tram too.

AfaIk: Lugano had a different trolleybus system with higher voltage than usually (in other Swiss cities). 1200 instead of 600 V, I guess. The used vehicles were getting old and had to be replaced, and new ones with this special system were hard to find or much too expensive. That's why they unfortunately decided to replace them by diesel buses. So let's hope now that the tram will come back again!

We in Basel lost our last trolleybus line last year, because some politicians didn't (want to) get that CNG-powered buses are NOT as ecological and quiet as trolleybuses.

Not reason to scrap the entire trolleybus system in Lugano.

I don't never understand why Basel destroyed our trolleybus system!

Poi ce sempre l'autopostale e l'ARL (Autolinee Regionali Luganesi).

Voltage in Lugano was 1000 V, but this wasn't a big problem, because all vehicles were old, and it would have been a good idea to replace them all. The newest in 2001 had 13 years, and are still in service in Brasov, Romania. The other were built in 1975-1980 when they were scrapped (some of them still exist, saved by a club).
