It's the first Olympics I remember and as a young child I enjoyed Atlanta 96. As far as I'm concerned it was the Games that got me interested in watching future Olympics. The spirit must therefore have been very much right, a boy as young as I was at that age doesn't notice the other things. In that sense, as far as I'm concerned, Atlanta got much more right than it got wrong.

I often wonder when talking about the essence of an Olympics, had I been 12 years younger, whether Beijing would have grabbed me in the same way. Who knows?
